A Study Concerning the Intrinsic Value of Stuff
At one time, I did posess
a dream machine of the perfect stereo,
accompanied by an enormous collection, of a library of music;
all on vinyl
with those plastic cards that separate
all the individual letters of the alphabet.
Well, it's been liberated.
You see, circumstances came along, and made me give it all away,
and so today, I own some different stuff.
So cruelly temporary, in it's fading sort of way,
as invisible as an idea in the wind.
Then, I had....."the Kiss".
You know, that "kind",
where she let me know, by really kissing me back,
and it made all the difference in the world.....
....so, she's still with me, I'm not stupid.
I've had grudges over people that have stolen from me,
then, I chalked it up as a lesson I needed to learn.
I delivered an infant, and saw a double rainbow,
and some other wonders, way up in the sky;
and I have everything stored inside the library of my heart.
That's the extent of my wealth.....family, friends, and all of the echoes of my mind.
The grudges went first, out of all I've let go of.....
....but, that baby, that double rainbow, and that kiss'..... those things, will I cherish.....and hope they never go away.
