A Love Poem
Tis but a simple kiss I seekTo release my heart of sorrowA mere token of affectionMy purpose on tomorrow Enchanted by your radiant beautyI dare not peer too longYour smile beckons my glancesA weakened soul, once strong Your eyes reflect the envious moonWho turns her stare awayAlas, she knows, she can't competeAnd gives passage to the day I know not where or whence you cameThe vision of a thousand dreamsYour voice, a cool refreshing drinkThat flows from a thousand streams Your hair, the touch of fine spun silkWoven on Heaven's loomYou hold my senses hostageWith the smell of your sweet perfume Even your presence makes time stand stillRejecting the coming dayYour beauty demands attentionThat leads weak hearts astray If ever I'm granted a single wishI dare not wish in vainMy breath would wish for the wisdomThat my heart cannot explain Tis this I know for certainYou're a gift from Heaven's doorI'll love you til the day I dieThen, forever more
