Traveler
I am a vagabond on the street
I walk on the antiquity of these pathetic feet
calloused
twisted
determined to walk away
determined to run away
fast as i can
I skulk the city
waiting for the right time
venturing out of tunnels after midnight
happy alone in a dingy bus depot
with all the other lonely ones
leaving
going
standing
sleeping
there is a traveler's song inside me
moves me
takes me to one place after another
I board anticipating the highway
wet with rainbows still visible
I board anticipating traffic
due to oil slick streets
I board anticipating the bump of dirt roads
headed south
I eagle eye every and anything
birds
trees
rivers
mountains
people
I am the traveler
folded into my seat
nestle into the beat
music from my ipod nano
a passenger
passing through time
passing through space
going from place to place
I am a swell
leaving once more
this is where we come
with a ticket to another place
traveling so far off the face of this end of earth
riding days to nevada
suitcases
satchels
instruments
backpacks
headed out west
stragglers
newly release prisoners
wearing sunglasses with no sun
on the run
just like me
I wanna run away to be free
can't face another day
in this place called home
I rather write love songs
listen to truckers adventures
all the women along the way
hotels and motel 6
no goodbyes at the end
one stop after another
a new place
a new face
I am who I want to be
transcending with time
my sleep is restless
I wake talking in tongues
a struggle between dreams and reality
So I wanna reach deep
kissing fascination
test my imagination
I wanna walk the highest bridge
tippy toe to the edge
pitch evil ties to the sides
that is choking my spirit
I wanna ditch belonging
attached by blood
which drips sorrow of past generations
I wanna rule me
I'm a runaway
feeling oh so good...
