Diminutive World

It’s a big world, our orb

so many countries and cities within

We travel to have heat, cold; pleasure

escape the silence or din.

When I travel, it’s so distant

further than I want to be

My definition of abroad

is going to Saltcoats by the sea.

I’ve never travelled on a big ship

my brothers fly to Spain

When I make a great journey

I go to England by train.

I’ve never flown on a plane

don’t even have a passport

I journey all the way from Scotland

to good ole Blackpool resort.

The thing is, the world I live in

is too big for someone like me

I may appear to be a simpleton

but I’m far from that, you see.

Some of us are meant for bigger things

to learn, teach or travel the planet

My world is big enough

to build it, takes a minuscule of granite.

“The journey of a thousand

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." How do we know if we're coming or going? ~ "Even if I knew the world were to end tomorrow, I would plant an olive tree today."-- Francis of Assisi

Yes Anna

I think you know where this came from? One of my comments to you gave me the idea. Thank you. It’s something I feel and because of you I was able to put it into words. Maybe not word perfect, but perfect in how I feel sometimes. Xena

Thank you Judy

I've never craved for holidays abroad, even when young. Because I can’t really sunbathe, without factor 15 or more; I tell myself I’m not meant for the land of sun and sea, and I can’t swim either. So, home is where the heart is. Xena

Hey Handsome…

Tee hee, sorry Stan, this is the last time I'll tease you. It’s just so nice to see you. I’m surprised that you haven’t travelled either. Well, who needs to travel with such imagination as yours? You have it all inside you to create fabulous poetry. You could teach me a thing or two, three, maybe four! Thank you Stan. Xena

I love being at home but I

I love being at home but I also love the outdoors I love Horse riding and surfing and lots of things ... but not so much since I been sick ... maybe later when I am feeling a bit stronger wonderful poem huni love and hugs JayCee ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.-Ivan Panin")

Awe JayCee...

How horrible for you. I could do so much with my life and I feel bad that I waste my good heath, well physical health. I’m perfectly fine, apart from all the stuff that goes on in my head. I retreat from all the things you, and people like you; cherish. I wish I could give you some of my health, I don’t deserve it. Don’t worry JayCee I’m not feeling sorry for myself, just for you, and all that’s been taken away from you. But you are getting better and you will go out horse-riding and enjoy all those other things again. Xena

And good luck England

I'm not a football, or sport fan Shirley, but when it comes to supporting your country, in sport, “We shall, we shall not be moved” as they sing in Scotland and England. So best of luck to them. Wasn’t that really sweet of your neighbour to do that for you. Send Dan and his English girlfriend a big thank you for making you feel at home, even in Florence. xxx Xena

Thank you so much Mand

I know it won't win any Oscars, but you know me, I write for myself and not for the stars and nominates and that’s why I love the friends that I have. They, like you, appreciate me for who I am. And that’s why I welcome the stars I get, because I know they’re for me and my effort and honesty, and that’s more important. Xena

In reading this delightfully

In reading this delightfully penned poem Xena - it was as though you were speaking about me! I am exactly the same, never been there or gone here but, that is about to change next year, when I take my first ever trip abroad, to visit my dearest friend for three weeks! Passport will be secured after Christmas and flight booked in May/June for September. I am counting the weeks at this stage and after Christmas the days and before long the desired month will be here. Only 14 months to go!!!!!!! LOL!!! But how I look forward! Wonderful poem Xena. Thank You so very much for so kindly sharing.
