Peter Vision

                   Peter Vision

When I was but a child
            I spent much time alone

      My siblings were all older
            and seldom were at home

My Dad and Mom were busy
            as parents often are

Was then I discovered the ability
            to dream upon the stars

      I learned with imagination
            that anything can be

I came to live inside a world
            that only I could see

I had this "friend" called Peter
            forever at my side

And through it all, he was there
            whether I laughed or cried

I recall it all so clearly
what a precocious child I was

Thinking back, my Mom a saint
            so patient with her love

      The extra plate at dinner
            the ever empty chair

And boy the way I raised the roof
            if ANYONE sat there

      And Peter...oh poor Peter
            the mischief he got in

      Whenever something was wrong
you know that it was him

      Not me...oh no, the angel
            not Daddys little girl

      Peter.... yes... dear Peter
            me and him...alone..my world

      Too funny now he's surfaced
            been gone so many years

But somehow now I feel him
hear his sobs, as I cry my tears

Do you think that he was waiting
for the perfect time and place

      Perhaps he just got tired
fifty years in that dark space

      Guess it doesn't really matter
if he's here, I'll be ok

      Peter , ever faithful
just like then, in olden days

With this too, he'll help me cope
            by my side, never alone

      So tonight.....a chair is empty
            for you Peter..welcome home.

Hi Scribbler, Thanks for

Hi Scribbler, Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to this piece. I apologize for your confusion. When I write, I do not intend for it to be a particular 'style.' I know diddly about poetry styles. I simply write as the mood hits me. I, too, felt there were a few words that could be removed, but, when I read it out loud, they all seemed to be needed. I did change one line near the end that was awkward and I feel it flows better now. Thanks again. Sue

chuckles and then tears

Well written. I got lost in art to exscape from my brothers and sisters. I'm one of ten. But the older ones was gone before I can even remember. We blamed each other and we would all get in trouble. Take Care. huey
