Take Care of Mama

In the shadows of an empty churchA little child is kneelingShe prays for God to take awayThe pain her mother is feeling Torn between, her mother's loveAnd the mercy to let her dieShe prays the end comes quicklyAnd the suffering pass her by A child of only ten years oldWith a heart, already grownShe's seen the pain and sufferingThat most have never known Her mother, stricken with cancerAnd her, an only childThe product of a broken marriageHer hopes and dreams defiled She sits beside her mother's bedHolding her weakened handBinding her tears, trying to be braveToo young to understand Her prayers are finally answeredHer mother passes awayAll alone, she kneels once moreAnd again, begins to pray She says, "Dear Lord take care of mama"As she sits in the empty room"Tell mama that I'm gonna miss her,"And I will see her soon"

Touchy poem here whisk

Wow what you say in a poem resonates in my heart and body. This is a sad but ever so meaningful piece of work. The flow, the spelling, the everything about it I can find nothing amiss. Great job worthy of stars and a Nom from me for sure. Magnifico Mona

Beautiful Whiskurz

Such a sad thing for anyone to go through and accept. We all have to let go of our loved ones and it's never easy. Xena

Not an easy topic to address

Not an easy topic to address but I must say, you did it very nicely. This brought tears to my eyes and a few memories back to the surface. I love poetry that does that! One tiny thing that tripped me up. Last line, 1st stanza. In reading it out loud, it felt a little awkward. Perhaps Mom instead of mother, or even drop the 'is' and add an s to mother(s) It seems to me it flows much nicer. It's your poem, the choice is yours. Nice to meet you. Sue
