Take Care of Mama
In the shadows of an empty churchA little child is kneelingShe prays for God to take awayThe pain her mother is feeling Torn between, her mother's loveAnd the mercy to let her dieShe prays the end comes quicklyAnd the suffering pass her by A child of only ten years oldWith a heart, already grownShe's seen the pain and sufferingThat most have never known Her mother, stricken with cancerAnd her, an only childThe product of a broken marriageHer hopes and dreams defiled She sits beside her mother's bedHolding her weakened handBinding her tears, trying to be braveToo young to understand Her prayers are finally answeredHer mother passes awayAll alone, she kneels once moreAnd again, begins to pray She says, "Dear Lord take care of mama"As she sits in the empty room"Tell mama that I'm gonna miss her,"And I will see her soon"
