Trail of Tears

A little girl of ten went lost in the woodsA witch had beckoned her to comeThe search would last for only three daysFor it proved too hopeless for some The legend tells that the little girl diedWhile trying to find her way homeHer spirit now dwells in this forest still lostCursed forever to roam When the moon shines full wailing is heardAnd a song with a mournful tuneShe sings of the witch who stole her soulBy the light of the lonesome moon The people of the village would lock their doorsAnd wait for her song to beginFor it's said she would wander the village at nightChecking doors and trying to get in Her quest for peace still happens todayFor her journey has gone on for yearsShe cries in the night for a place she can restWhile leaving a trail of tears

Hi Whiskurz

I really liked this poem a lot. Interesting story. Like folklore. I'd give it a five star but I'd change journey has went on to journey has gone on. Other than that it is a five star poem. take care Pat
