Five rainbows

Five rainbows
We passed under their bridges
We searched each gift for the origin
The shimmering optical ridges

I could add to the rain
With my tears – for the blessings – of giving up my pain

Five rainbows
It wasn’t hard to share
Even though each heart that was present
Had hardly been aware

I was bleeding out my time
With my moments – surrendered – for innocence and crime

Five rainbows
Was I desperate for hope?
The sweetness that we lost and found
Dangled carelessly with fraying, tangled rope

I had curled up in my nest
I forgot – you deserve – the offer of my best

Five rainbows
As we travelled forth in time
Mist and clouds and raindrops
Carried softer scents of joy and love sublime

And I knew I had to give more
To nurture life – to drink love – one must open up a door

glad to have taken you to a place of worth also, that's the hope

Thanks Mona, I know it could be polished up a lot, but it was a lovely experience & lead me to a lovely profound spot, glad to have taken you to a place of worth also, that's the hope of poetry I suppose. Be well (heh as Prof would say... it has worn off on me!) Cheers Anni~ "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. I like the way this flows...

It has been awhile since I thought in this mode. I have been too involved with so many other things. I really felt a sense of peace, with this poem. Thanks. I am very glad to see you writing, even if just a little. Please visit us, as often as you can, ~ Love, ~ Gee

Dear Gee with your generosity, how lovely to "see" you again... Oh lovely that you felt that peace... me too. That's the point I guess. I do hope you & Wnedy are well & thriving... winter here is very cold now, we thought we might have snow recently, I think there might be a few falls this year, the air has that flavour even today... That means it's probably lovely summer for you huh... enjoy my friend, send some warm thoughts this way & cheers to you & yours. Five rainbows...

like many of the others, I have wondered about the number of rainbows, is it the number of your family? Or some other signifigance? Yes, Wendy and I are fine, our weather is a little screwy right now, but we have had some really fine days. My little garden is going great, and I finally have gotten some moon-flowers to grow. When they bloom I will post some pics of them. ~ love always, ~ Gee P.S. How are all the otters?

thanks for your sweetness, the same back to you

Dear Jayne, I am glad to see you still so active here (& with a little envy, though not in a competative way... there really needs to be a better term to express the longing to be at a similar level, but not carry a sense of having to compete with one who is), I am pleased to see it, since last I heard you were up for some serious surgery & you seem to be going well... bravo girl! I hardly visit here, am unable between far greater pulls on my "other" life & decreasing ability really. Anyway, thanks for your sweetness, the same back to you. We do what we can don't we & the challenge is to do it with grace & goodness of heart. Take good care Jayne & keep up the big efforts you put in here from what I see (not much, but enough). Cheers Anni~ "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. I am so glad you understood it was a distance trip

Yes, there is something about travelling isn't there, puts you in a different head space as well as the physical... I am so glad you understood it was a distance trip, the five rainbows arching over us at seperate points durning the 3 hour journey... all so clear & so close, the optical illusion making the ends in sight almost every time, a rare thing I think... & there, was the "pot of gold" proverbially speaking... the gift of peace as Gee observed.. the revelation. Cheers Anni~ "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest". - Maya Angelou

A welcomed face, a welcomed joy to see you Anni.

Ann of Norway It pains me to feel you pained, and know your mind and unceasing love of writing and sharing, but you are here, and thank you for your visit. We all love you and wish you well and happy, however you achieve it. Oh so special this one Anni, I have seen five rainbows, where five torrents melded into one, their criss-cross of bows sending arrows of coloured spray into my eyes and moving me, as dose your poem, they were n a valley in Norway where seldom flowers are found, and were the long row of farmhouses are joined together to combat the cold of Winter, their heavy timbers weighing on the greenest of grassy turf and the white crystals of Winter lying up there on Snöhetta mountain (Snow-hatted) and the shock of a flock of birds rising on ones approach joins the dance of the waterfalls.

All is well when the heart is full, & you fill mine

Ahhh my precious Annushka, no pain for me in the big picture, except the missing of lovely poetry companions here sometimes & the longing to write fading away, it isn't sharp so I guess it's good. The need to write was sometimes so very brutal in me much of my life, if I didn't there were times it felt like I would be ripped from the inside out to get those sensation onto paper & out into the world somehow... I never knew why, it never seemed to effect anyone else (perhaps via a songs that made a difference to someone now & then)... any, blabbing. As always I love the gift you have placed here in words, just lovely dear Annushka, tales of your experiences laid to letters like gorgeous gliding, darting fish, then like waterfalls & sunrise skies... you are a blessing my dear sister. I am there through you , a lovely gift, thank you, both for the journey of your experience & for your lovely wishes... All is well when the heart is full, & you fill mine xxx Cheers Anni~ "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. A lofty poem to lift my spirits.

Anni, To nurture life, to drink love, one must open a door. I really like that line. I wonder at the number of rainbows, why five? I am reminded of the folk song, Five Hundred Miles. I like the way the poem goes from We to I. It seems like such a 'count your blessings' poem that gives this reader pause. Thank you, Lisa

promise of future with possibility, much better than the pot of

Lisa, I love your lucid comments as much as I have loved the poetry I have experienced from you. Good observations, good questions. The poem reflects on a recent trip back from a lovely area here in Aus, remember it is winter here now, 3 hours driving after a time away & some healing from some overwhelming stressful conditions. The rainbows felt like they offered such classic (if not corny) bridges to possibility & betterment. The number five felt significant, when I was musing at the wonder & asked the question of the loaded car, "how many were there, I didn't count?". I chuckle now as I add more significance... There are 5 of us in a relatively newly merged family! ... My "new" son replied definitively "five", & a few of them had double rainbow effects & one even had 2, one on the inside & one on the outside. We encountered each at separate points, & each time I was incredulous at the clarity & brilliance & the proximity, there were a few that seemed to be traveling just ahead of us with the origins of the illusion clearly in view... As I commented to Steven, there were the promised gifts of riches at the end of the rainbow... for me anyway, the release of worry, the embracing of promise of future with possibility, much better than the pot of gold. Apologies for the tome! I look forward to some time to go & read more of your work Lisa, very lovely to meet you here. am SURE there are many things that could be tweaked

Thanks Julie, good to see you here, glad you liked it... I am SURE there are many things that could be tweaked, I have far less time & energy to do so now & almost feel guilty posting work with so little consideration, but, it is lovely to keep in touch & I'm pleased that there is tolerance for differing levels of effort & ability, mine has been eroded of late sadly, but I do love to write when I can. I hope you are well & thriving... see you next time & keep writing. Cheers Anni~ "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. On a rare visit here I felt

On a rare visit here I felt I had to seek you out :) The title of this one grabbed me immediately :) It's beautiful Anni, there's a balance here, the seeking and the finding, the loss and the gain, the giving and the gifts all seem to sit harmoniously together in a place of gentle stillness. I could paddle here till my toes wrinkled :) Love you dear one and see you, G and the otters as these 5 rainbows, light and colour blessing you all :) BIG hugs and all my love Beki xxxx
