The Hummingbird
Once I saw a hummingbird,
Buzzing around a tree,
He was singing a little tune,
As happy as can be.
I said to him "Mr. Hummingbird,"
Do you wish to fly up high,
And be like the golden eagles,
Who soar throughout the sky?"
He stopped what he was doing,
And said, "Tell me why I should,
When the eagles cannot sing like me,
I'm the best throughout the wood."
"Yes I said, that is great,
But the eagles are so grand,
They get to glide above the sky,
Guardians of all the land."
The hummingbird shook his head,
"My sweet music fills the air,
I bring happiness to those who are sad,
My song, I love to share."
I looked at this tiny bird,
No longer did he seem so small,
The pride he felt for who he was,
Made him the grandest bird of all.
