Stained

Fresh breezes cool beach, Green reeds wave soft by blue water, Stained by thick brown oil.

Hi Mona,

No, I do not live on the Gulf Coast, I live on the southern tip of Lake Michigan, where we are also in a battle with BP over the expansion of their Whiting refinery, where they want to pump and crack oil from the Canadian oil shale deposits, and ruin more of our environment for the sake of their filthy greed. Hopefully, this latest disaster in the Gulf Of Mexico will open people's eyes up here. Glad you liked my haiku, Mona. Dear Jim

Down Under we are very environmentally minded being on the ass end of the world means we are already starting to feel the effects of climate change ... I know many of us down here have been watching and hoping that the problem can be solved in my opinion its the problem of the world its our worlds ocean being polluted ... I wish other countries would step in and help I believe its a problem that its in the best interests of the whole world to sort it and fast ... love JayCee sorry to ramble lol ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.-Ivan Panin")

Hi Jayne

Yeah, it'd be nice if someone offered some help, but hey, this is America - apart from Cuba and Venuzuela, the rest of the world could frankly care less, and more than a few nations are elated at our misfortune. Unfortunate, but there it is, the inevitable result of years of high-handed screwed up foreign policy. I just hope they fix this soon, or we'll be smelling it up here in the Great Lakes... oh, wait, we DO smell it up here, BP has their damned oil refinery right at lakeside, polluting everything already. My Bad. And never apologize or rambling - rambling's good. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

Dear Jim

Those nations want to sit up and take notice what affects you guys is felt the world over the economy ?the price of fuel ?and even the price of living ... its in the best interest of ALL on the planet if other countries step in to help ... we are all going to be paying the cost for this disaster for a long time to come ... just wish there was less bullshit and more action ... Jim here where I come from everyone is dismayed and we are watching even if our government isnt ... please know that we think of you all and know what a tragedy this is for you all I watch good morning america everyday at five am checking on the progress and seeing how things are going ... just so you know your not the only one concerned there are others worlds away who give a damn love and hugs JayCee ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. Excellent...

Haiku has to be one of my favorite forms of poetry, maybe because I'm a fan of the short but full, but that is what this is Jim, and done excellently, the content is very important and you've done your poetic job as to pointing and telling. thanks for posting Richard

Thanks Richard

I don't do too many Japanese style poems, but the subject seemed to lend itself to the form, with this. Glad that you enjoyed this. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race
