OUR JOURNEY

In loving you I had no choice
when first I heard your happy voice
and saw the sparkle of green eyes
love took me by complete surprise

So since that sunny summer day
when love came as such a shock
none else has made me feel this way
you've anchored me like solid rock

Our journey's had both ups and downs
with many laughs and many frowns
and though we've stumbled oft' enough
we've persevered when times were rough

Now that you've shared with me this path
through twists and turns toward setting sun
and helped me find an easy laugh
in evenings when the day is done

Come with me now, it's not too far
for journey's end's almost in sight
homelights guide us like northern star
toward warm hearth and restful night

Journey's beginning or end...

I really liked this a lot. Sweet without being maudlin, offering true sentiment that many a partner in a good relationship can relate to and unfortunate others, merely stand off and envy. Good write! Bonitaj

Hi Stan

It's a great poem, but you changed your rhyming. You have couplets mixed with normal rhyming. I think that's what Brighteyed meant. I'm no expert either, it’s just an observation. Xena
