…AND NOTHING MORE
…AND NOTHING MORE When we metIt was simpleJust liking ourselvesFondness developedInto approving respectWe were just friendsAnd nothing more In staying togetherWe enjoyed every momentCherished the day we metWe said, why notBought buba in satin oganzaComplemented by kaftanAnd nothing more We cooked dodo and ricePounded yam and banga soupGoat pepper soup and cow tailWe danced to the musicBoubou, reggae and soukousBlues transformed into makossaAnd nothing more What were we looking for?Children, may beBut we called it loveSome marry for wealthOthers for powerSome for the nameAnd nothing more What more do we wish for?Of meeting and friendshipMarrying and living togetherFor the fruits and the tasksFor peace or for pleasureWith an endless list of desiresSome still say…they want more
