Life costs nothing [full version]

Taxi crashes and smashes
Heads clashes and bashes
A flying vulture comes flying
To a woman's crying

No one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost...

A weapon falls into the wrong hands
A limb falls in the sands
Lying still where it lands
Still decorated in wedding bands

No one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost...

A child detoriates in the streets
Eating poverty's feasts
Hope he'll never know
For street names come and go

No one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost...

A woman lies in a box's fold
Fighting winter's bitter cold
While all men avoid her eyes
and the buzzing of the flies

No one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost...

A girl gets raped every night
Robbed of all her fight
Silently screaming with all her might
If only we heard her plight...

Forever no one cares for lives lost...
Forever calculating all the cost....

[Part 2]

No one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost

Just gazing outside my window,
I smell a breeze of polluted wind blow
Feeling no inspiration, society's detorioration
We breeding a moronic generation,
Human race lost its quality,
Cash becomes a priority
Materialism is taking over
Mr Smith is driving a Range rover
Working 7 days only one where he is sober
Removing alcohol in his mind requires a surgeon
human seeking freedom like flying pigeons
10 daughters, out of ten only one remains a virgin

Inside a coffin lies Syleen mom's body
Instead of going to the funeral she chooses to go to the party
Between a tot of wisdom and intelligence she chooses to sip a bacardi
She brags about how many man she posess
She dreamt of being a lawayer, wouldn't this threaten her success?
As we sat down and watching T.V
Asking her to compile a C.V
She told me I am wasting my time, instead today she compiled H.I.V

Forever no one cares for lives lost
Just calculating the cost

The dark side

Hi Johan. I have lived in Africa for 53 years: 26 in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe and 27 in South Africa. I have lived on farms and in small villages and in big cities and I have seen it all. Your poem is raw and it is real and I commend you for capturing the dark side of Africa. Yes, Africa is beautiful, but like the yin and yang of life, there is good and there is bad. Well done, Johan! Taxis, weapons, rape, orphans, exposure - you raked it all in with such feeling :-)
