Goodnight, Not Goodbye

As I stare into these wrinkled hands,
That were once so smooth and young,
I remember all the dances I danced,
And the songs that I have sung.

A thousandfold of yesterdays are gone,
And the years that have flown right by,
I think back with laughter and joy,
Happy tears is all I cry.

Life has held many surprises,
And I have had my ups and downs,
Sometimes I think life is God's great joke,
Go ahead, send in the clowns. 

I would not trade a single day,
For every diamond in a mine,
For life brings you your own jewels,
And only you can make them shine.

I see you gazing down at me,
Upon your faces,grief  filled tears,
My darling loved ones, let me soothe,
And comfort all your fears.

You have to know this isn't the end,
I will see you on the other side,
So cheer up, my beloved ones,
I am ready to take this ride.

Do not despair,rejoice with me,
I refuse to see you cry,
Remember as I close my eyes,
This is goodnight and not goodbye.

Dear Elizabeth

A lovely write there were a couple of lines that need tweaking but the theme is there and the poems well written just needs those couple of lines smoothed out love and big hugs Jayne-Chloe ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. Ann of Norway I love it, I really do and the rhythm is terrific and the sentiments and all the all of it. I enjoyed being soothed in 'your' wrinkled hands into a sense of calm happiness at future changes in my life, beautifully encouraging for those who are in troubled thoughts about it. "And I have had my ups and downs,"......do you need AND? "I see you all gazing down at me," ........do you need ALL? "I will see you on the other side,".......do you need ON?
