Monsters in the closet...

Fairy-tales and scary trolls, were slipped into my head

By books that were meant to lull me... off to my night and bed

Captain Hook and Peter Pan, sword-fighting high and low

The crocodile with his smile, waits patiently below

Pinocchio, can't tell a truth, nose gets larger all the time

And I just want to get some sleep, but my head is filled with rhyme

Hey diddle-diddle, and three blind mice

Hans Brinker and Gretel, on the ice

Peter piper, the wicked witch

Freddy Kruger, that son-of a-bitch

My dreams are filled with images, of bad men and werewolves too

You slept with monsters on T.V....Me cuddled next to you

My eyes were sanded by the fairy-dust, they were throwing all around

Head buried in the blankets, like an ostrich in the ground

The ghosts and gremlins can't get you, if you hide that way

I'll just stay like this... until the light of day

Hey Al...

Bring that big blade, and let's look under the bed. peek in the closet, but watch your head They are good at hiding from my mom and dad You can be the protector that I never had Slay my monsters and I'll kill yours Then we can stop looking, behind those creaking doors Thanks Jess, ~ Gee

Thanks, lou...

I was just a little guy when I realized that there was more to fear, than some imaginary monsters. Love, ~ Gee xx

i love it!!!!

I love this poem!!!! And it is so true. As children, the scariest things in our lives are fairy tales or make believe monsters that dont really exist. It isnt until we get older that we realize what fear really is.

Fear...

It was exactly what I was going for! However, I was also trying to say; that when you are a child, those fears, are no less real in your mind. ~ Gee

good point....

then when we become adults and learn what real monsters are, the childhood monsters seem almost silly.
