ENTRANCING TEMPTATIONS

 ENTRANCING TEMPTATIONS

In the light of spring and summer

when all is green and bright and new,

I get news of you before the dew has gone from leaf and path,

those sad damp patches now describe your plight,

and in the dim-lit morning

tell your message to the world

that all is not so good, so joyful;

while birds sing in the wood of coming blooms,

there are those whose minds are full of gloom,

whose pains seize their intent,

and squeeze and twist their glance away

from sweet temptations that entrance.

And while the dew drops dance their drips

on petals blue, white, yellow,

their thoughts are dull and mellow,

not inspired, retired, their senses,

feelings at an ebb

as if caught in that dew bespangled web,

a fly, so small an offering

to fates firm and powerful hand,

If only we could understand

their helpless dark depression,

not even an obsession

brought on by weakness for a drug,

but given the life we have, they have no choice

and face it, almost with a shrug.

What can we healthy beings do but smile,

to help them climb back out of their despair,

we try to help repair their sickness

offer our sweet happiness, as best we can,

and hope we make a difference, turn the sand.

Wow Ann

What a beautiful and caring write. It sure helped me to smile and appreciate the world a little more. You always manage to bring the natural beauty of the world into your words…just so lovely. Rosina xena465

How lovely of you Rosina thank you

Ann of Norway That was exactly my intention as you know, the trying to put myself in the shoes of one less ecstatic about the beauty of things, to see from their perspective and yet to help glimpse what really lies there beyond the thoughts of despair just there to be taken, if we can persuade ourselves to make that tiny effort and reach out for the help waiting there to be had. Your lovely comment is beautiful too Rosina, thank you thank you and my love to you Ann. And thank you Raven and love to you too.

Re: Ann

I've notice the beauty of nature more since knowing you. I saw it, but didn't really see, if you know what I mean? Rosina xena465

Dear Ann...

This poem is so beautiful and gentle... I think it will touch many hearts; it has mine. But I think Rosina said it best; I can only echo her words. Simply exquisite Ann. With my love, Raven A robin redbreast in a cage Puts all heaven in a rage. -William Blake

Dearest Jayne,

Ann of Norway Thank you for your nice comment. That's what I am a gardener, in many ways, trying to grow things, all things and see what they do, always surprising never the same; every person, every flower or tree; the smell of the earth turned over is one of my favourite perfumes, we cannot buy those at Coco Chanel!!!! But those are perfumes that would tempt me, even the rosemary plant with its special aroma becomes distorted when spirit is added to it. Whenever I took a plane from GB. I always picked a tiny bit of fresh mint and rosemary to hang from my brooch or to put in my pocket hole to use smelling salts on my journey, a lovely thing to do, nature again refreshing the mind and giving the sense of the peace of a garden, slowly, quietly growing unawares. Glad I do that for you Jayne, thank you again. Love from Ann XXOOOOO
