Anhedonic Restraint
You keep slurring your words
with your paper tongue,
easy, Quasimoto
that bell can't be unrung.
Turns out I'm solar-powered
with the gift of gab,
my only problem is
that I can't hail a cab !
But, I'll finish my journey
and come up with my "picks",
the game can't be won
with the usual tricks;
it bothers my heart
to admit defeat,
so, I promise to bounce back
and land on my feet.
You won't know what's hit you
as you try to discern,
whether the day is your friend
or if you easily burn.
But, the end of the puzzle
will justify the "means",
and all of your good intentions
won't equal a hill of beans;
what most likely will happen
after all's said and done,
is you'll have to admit
that you've had a good "run".
So, I'll leave you to your details
and your recycled ways,
may you rise to the occasion
and get out of life's maze.
with your paper tongue,
easy, Quasimoto
that bell can't be unrung.
Turns out I'm solar-powered
with the gift of gab,
my only problem is
that I can't hail a cab !
But, I'll finish my journey
and come up with my "picks",
the game can't be won
with the usual tricks;
it bothers my heart
to admit defeat,
so, I promise to bounce back
and land on my feet.
You won't know what's hit you
