fields of sky, roads to perdition

On the corner of Spring Garden Road
and Westminster Drive
every year the makeshift sign is planted in
the grass in the front yard:

"Baby Duck Crossing
Slow Down
Do Not Kill"

a formation of wild geese
honking overhead,
serendipity,
I smile out loud

blood-red eye-wide open poppies
are in full
bloom in Afghanistan,
in front of the house
next door, too.

Dear Kail

Brilliantly written. I don't know anything about politics, and I hate war. I know both are part of our world, but I can't help not getting too involved. Just as well everyone isn't like me eh Kail. Rosina xena465

It takes all types of people

It takes all types of people to fill the void that only people can fill, Rosina. Besides I'm not anti-war, I'm propeace. ;-) ~ "Just as what you dream is your own and no one else can observe it, so the world you see is your own." ~ Nisargadatta
