MU57ANG

 MU57ANG

The pistons come alive
Cylinder full of air and gas
Creates the intake stroke
Ready for the curb side choke

Fuel and air compress
Spark plug ignites a flame
Expanding gas explodes
Shift stick, lock and load

500 burning horses scream from the steel stable door
500 flaming horses screech the rubber scorched floor
.
500 fuming horses break free with cataclysmic sound
500 bolting horses gallop across the tarmac ground

Driving pistons down
Exhaust valve opens up
Tailpipe flame escapes
Engine purrs and gyrates

Repeat, intake, air and gas
Crankshaft rotates the motion
Chrome wheels are rolling
The beast ready and growling

Cat

Your younger years, you're only 25 aren't you? The Pontiac is a great classic car. I bet you miss it. What car do you have now? I have always been in love with this car since my early teens...never owned one...but I hoping I will soon. I really enjoyed writing this piece, it gave me goosepimples just think of that purring engine! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Dear HS

What I have now is a big boring gas guzzling Ford Exploder (Explorer) It suited our needs for a while, but not anymore. I was a bird breeder specializing in Cocatiels and conures. But due to my lung problems I had to give it up. I don't know what I will get next time, but it will be smaller. Steve drives an Aveo, to work, it is a small car. Always, Cat

Gas guzzler!

Cat, a Mustang for me would be my fun car...not one I can nip to the shops in or take my step-son and his band equipment to a gig in. So like you I have a boring car, Renault Laguna 2 Sports Tourer, which thankfully isn't a gas guzzler, but is a mundane vehicle which suits the needs of the family. That's a shame you had to give up bird breeding hobby due to your lung problems. I assume that cats don't affect that condition as I know you have and love cats dearly. kind regards, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Zigs

Zigs, you have seen this one before and as I recall you offered a word change which I did. So I guess this is a co-write now!! Lol! Once I have the car I'll be getting on a ferry over to the green fields of Ireland. I know a guy over there who is a damn fine poet! This was a fun write, a leap from the usual dark stuff...although I watched Christine (Stephen King) a week ago and I want my car to be like that...possessed by the Devil...it would fit the image perfectly. Thanks for dropping in my friend, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

I can't drive Dan

But boy do I want to drive that mustang...free, battling against the wind, open-top-roof with my long blonde hair flying, overtaking every vehicle on the road…Geeze you allowed me drive for a time Dan…fabulous. Rosina xena465

Rosina, I'll pick you up in it when I get one, although it won't be an open roof...my hood would fly off!! If you really want your hair blowing in the wind, I'll turn the air con up for you!! Glad you felt like you were driving it for a while. Thanks my friend, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

When I went to buy my first

When I went to buy my first car, I wanted a powder blue mustang (it came out that year!) so badly I could taste it. If I remember correctly the payment would have been just under $60.00/month for a brand new car. So what does Anna do? She buys a 1950 something white Ford Hardtop Retractable. Of course the top will not work right and once I drove through pouring rain with the top flapping because it would not screw back in on my way to work. After that I had a 60 something white T-Bird with the round headlights, white or black interior (funny I'm not sure), a powder-blue Karmann Ghia, a yellow Chevy convertible with black interior, a blue Maverick, a red 1969 black leather convertible Firebird. So many are collector cars now, if only I had them, I'd put Jay Leno to shame. Well almost. Thank you for the trip back into time. Coincidentally yesterday Barry asked me if I remembered how to shift with a three-speed column shift. Hadn't thought about that for years and years. (I hadn't forgotten, lol.) Both the Maverick and Karmann Ghia were stick shifts. Vroom Vroom! ~A p.s. my brother had a goat (GTO) That baby kicked arse! Vroom, vroom!

Anna, powder blue isn't my colour...I am sure you can guess which colour is my preference. I have never owned a convertible car, but living in the UK, which seems to rain for 80% of the time reduces my need for one. I do enjoy watching the convertible cars whizzing by and driving into a rain shower, I shouldn't enjoy other people's discomfort, but, I do so laugh when it rains and catches them out. I would like to learn how to do a rain dance and then sit by the road, do my dance and watch and laugh!! Your collection of cars, if kept, would have been a collectors paradise for sure. I have only ever owned a stick shift car, I feel more in control than using an automatic. My parents had an automatic, which I hated when I drove it for the first and last time! My Mustang will be a stick shift, although my bigger issue is do I get a left hand drive or convert it to right hand drive at a cost of £8000, just so I can pull up at a car park and not have to get out to receive my entry ticket! Glad you enjoyed the road trip back in time. A Goat GTO...nice! regards, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Brings back some good memories!

I once had a 1968 Boss 302 fastback that I nearly killed myself in! Great car and a great poem with lots of good imagery and fantastic word-usage! Bravo!

Hood this is a good one, I too went for a ride in your mustang tonite, This also reminded me of the song Mustang Sally from long ago. I never had a mustang but drove in one or two in my life time. My first car was my Uncles little old pinto and she pinted all the way down the street. Never mind it was yes alot slower then the convertible mustang. Very nice song write and would love to hear this one. hope your day was beautiful Love,Mona xxoxox TIME well spent is TIME well lived

Mustang Sally!

Mustang Sally, never heard it before, I'll download it and give it a spin. Glad you took a ride in the car with me too. A Pinto!...Lol! I can see you driving that at full speed (35mph!!) This might make a good song with lots of car screeches and wheel spin noises in the background. Maybe it will become a mega hit and make me enough money to buy one! My day has been a disaster...I am on holiday and woke up with a migraine...only just got up (16.45) and feel rough! I need to relax on your porch I think...I'll be over a little later...put the kettle on! Gr8 I had a thought or two you may kick around

Doors and Floors Floors in the states is similar to gunning an engine or smashing the peddle to Floor for full power and the other was Motion to Notion Donnie/Sinbad need to get a sound track an make it a spoken poem Nice! 57 Mustang My little duce coupe maybe

Donnie

Donnie, coming from England, I wasn't aware of the two descriptions. Doors & floors Motion to notion. You have me thinking now if I can add them to my piece - I may work on those as a bridge to the song. Thanks for the ideas my friend. Yes a soundtrack is in the making, maybe a gentle rumble behind the spoken voice and the occasional wheel screech. I'll see how it pans out - watch this space. a '57 is a beautiful beast indeed. regards, HS ps: http://blog.enveeapparel.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/c57cd_obsidian-sg-one-mustang.jpg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Dan...

Thanks for the ride... my favorite car too, as you know I had one once, but it was a four cylinder, doesn't quite count does it... close but without the vroooooom... I bought my youngest boy a four cylinder eclipse, a used one of course, it's really for both of us, they sure make four cylinders different nowadays... that thing will fly!, and he wants to do all kinds of things to it... it already has racing headers, it's so different working on cars now, so much spaghetti under the hood, but, we are enjoying working on it. Richard

Richard, sorry mate I must have missed this comment, only just found it! Glad you enjoyed the ride. You can still join the Mustang gang with your 4 cylinders my friend. 4 cylinders still packs a punch. Bet you both spend hours driving and upgrading it. I can just see you two boy racers burning up the strip kicking ass. Lol! I managed to find a picture of you teaching your son how to pull away from the traffic lights: http://image.musclemustangfastfords.com/f/8875139/mmfp_0708_02_z+1979_ford_mustang_turbocharged_4_cylinder+side.jpg Drive safely my friend, lol! thanks for reading, Dan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".
