Crying at the window
presses a nose to the cold wide glass
there is snow settling filling the summers
old grass
the ceramic smiles about
cant make the un pout
"where is mommy"
no taxi yet
and knowing it will not come
now or later
she waits hunched up in the
knit little sweater
while cartoons ramble
and laugh tracks haunt the
fine possessions about
her little sobs hitching
as her heart breaks
only closing time will
bring her back
with whatever man
is driving
Mommy safe
the smoke on her clothes
the drinks on her breath
the bedroom door closed
The girl hugs
stuffing and cloth
and falls asleep
to the television
dreaming of the
one day Love
that never comes
