I want to show you a rice field
and weathered men women and children
planting,
point a finger of recollection
against a spike of wheat in a
golden field against the bluest sky
you have ever seen,
ask you then if the scent of bread baking
in your mother's house
erupts inside your senses,
I want to do these things before
oil covers the earth in sins of our fathers
and the greyness descends with the
cries of a mourning dove
I want to hold you close to my breast,
before our spirits fly.
I want to show you a rice field
and weathered men women and children
planting,
point a finger of recollection
against a spike of wheat in a
golden field against the bluest sky
you have ever seen,
ask you then if the scent of bread baking
in your mother's house
erupts inside your senses,
I want to do these things before
oil covers the earth in sins of our fathers
and the greyness descends with the
cries of a mourning dove
I want to hold you close to my breast,
before our spirits fly.
