Big Creek

Your toes unclutter with places
new ducks and turtle bones becoming
lost bits of glass among the stones and little fish
reaching back in shadows
where the water has long gone, and
we hold each other like fallen lotus flowers
among the leaves no one sees
or remembers.

Sorry, O. this is just a scribble of words

I haven't commented on your works much before because you don't need it. You receive such effusive praise, but you have let yourself down with this one. Jess,Sometime a poem that on

Jess,Sometimes a poem that on the surface may be a bit obscure has a layered meaning that may be difficult to extract without a road map as to the poem's origin, or the orientation of the poet as to his word selection or inherent understandings. Plath and Dylan Thomas are two poets that fit that description; although I don't presume by any measure to be of their stature as a poet. This poem highlights a walk that Anna and I had along Big creek in Ohio and things we encountered there. What struck me deeply was the small bits of broken glass and bones and their long forgotten histories, and the passage of time, like the endlessly flowing water, sinks into that oblivion of timelessness. I believe there is a strong enough thread of universality to make this a relevant poem on it's own merits, But Anna who lived it with me knows the deeper underlying meaning. This is an important issue for me, namely that of why write a poem at all. This poem represents a simple truth to us, and I hope to others, that time is fleeting. This poem though technically of little merit, for Anna and I, has a deep meaning. B

I stand corrected and humbled,

if I was a four footed creature I am sure I could fit them all in my mouth, Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]

Barry’s poem made me weep

Barry's poem made me weep deep hurting tears, and write *rainbows up the spine*. So for me it had depth and meaning, not just a *scribble of words*; and if anyone else *felt* his emotion, I'd say their word-sense is inescapable, Jess. ~A "Just as what you dream is your own and no one else can observe it, so the world you see is your own." ~ Nisargadatta

As Spring is momentary, and

As Spring is momentary, and life a cottonwood seed air born as the breeze dictates; a piece of driftwood that was once a tree sets me off to find that seedling on the forest floor where dreams grow tall in the low shadows that are not easily found. I saw you there searching. Love B

Time,time,time is master of

Time, time, time is master of us all, but I still need the feel of mud on my feet among the rocks and sticks of childhood as Anna and I walk the streams of Ohio. Stay well my friend and spend it wisely. B
