Glaucoma

The universe is abundant with

things we cannot see.

Dark matter, dark energy.

And even galaxies

which, under infra-red light,

glow iridescent, like neon.

But within the human range of the spectrum

our eyes have us decipher these as

dull empty gas,

nothing more there,

dead.

Truth is they are teeming with

brightly exploding new stars.

We have such limited vision.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Judy this is a wonderful write!

Judy i dont like Neo as there is way to much bad stuff floating around that isnt even poetry its just first class crap so i thank you with all my heart for your poetry as you i will miss dearly. i will live my happy life as i did before without stress of being annoyed by my computer screen because thats all it is in the end Strangers fighting through the phone line. I will continue to write for me and i will continue my life as before i hope all of the people i have met who have encouraged me and who have become poets in my heart will all have success with their lives and their poetry so Good bye Judy and much love shirley harrison

Superb Judy

I wish I could see what's really out there...wouldn't that be something. I used to daydream when I was younger that a space-ship would beam me up, just like in Star-Trek. Rosina xena465

So true

Great poem and many suffer with this my mother included. Yes the diabetes and the eyes what a horrible time mom went through with all the surgeries to save her eye and only to have lost the sight. I guess it is all worth a try and I pray she never looses the sight on the other eye. Jayne is right I have two members of the family with diabetes and it does affect every bit of the body and sight is a big one. Thank you for writing on this subject. Good job Love at ya gal Mona xoxox TIME well spent is TIME well lived
