"A BIRD ALL OF A SUDDEN"
"A BIRD ALL OF A SUDDEN"
Respect and admiration culled,
as old age blinds are drawn
across the running thoughts,
of life's bright youthful spring
to reach a moment hallowed
by our peers,
where doubts and fears
have lurked in shadowed minds,
see, blazed abroad,
the grey skies fires with colour,
before, smothered by our fears
of never having our voice heard
it is like being of a sudden like a bird,
dropped out of heaven on the wing,
that swoops and turns with joy
it seems, no cares no inhibitions
sling their stones from earths dead bones;
we thought we'd end up unsung,
unmentioned, done,
no voice, no words of quality expressed,
but now find others even are impressed;
what joy, what happiness,
we've made our mark
and dying have no art,
now aged, but shouting loud.
