Lost Souls

I am lost.

I wonder infinitely with the stars at my back.

I pursue the sun and the purpose hidden in the light.

Yet the dark will not leave.

The sun no longer rises in the East.

The hew of dusk has been absent for too long

My path has no end, beginning has long since faded

The night, only whispers.

My own voice drowned in the sea of voices tailing the wind.

There is no escape.

Like fireflies attacking a centre,

I am blinded and cannot see beyond this wall of flame.

The light envelopes

Yet offers as much comfort as the never-ending night.

The darkness grows, the stars fade...

The wild echoes within, a hellish silence descends.

Alone.

Awesome

In short this is awesome - the use of the darkness and fading sun to mirror your own feelings in life is well created. It gave off the image of you crawling in the fading light, entering darkness, where your soul will be forever alone. Haunting, chilling and beautifully dark...my kind of poem. Typo? My own voice drowned in the sea of voices tailing the wind - should this be trailing, although tailing does work...I think. Loved the end, very final indeed: The darkness grows, the stars fade… The wild echoes within, a hellish silence descends. Alone fantastic write my friend, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

oops I missed one point...

...the title is 'Lost Souls', but I wonder if 'Lost Soul' would be more appropriate? Just a final thought, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Light and darkness create an

Light and darkness create an ocean of contrasts... so anything they touch will be sharply defined. I prefer to dwell in the light, however. It's much more pleasant and helps my fellow creatures. Take care...
