Fuck me Jesus

When they arrived
the depths were trembling
and my dreams haunted
by roving hands

a knock on the door
heralded the arrival
and the trashing
of the word

they should never
have given me
that pamphlet
[I got rid of them fast]

the sandals don't do it
for me but then,

ok...so i'm going to have to be the lone person of faith to comment...oh well... re your above comments...i view this solely as a poem, and not as an attack on religion at all. however, are you really surprised that no other person of faith has reviewed it? they would find it offensive, and no doubt bypass it...as they're entitled to do. i like the structure, the way it sort of falls down the page, taking the reader on a journey i've read and re-read this, and really can't find anything to critique... i think it's extremely well crafted i can see the care taken with word choice and placement, and that always makes me appreciate what i'm reading a little bit more one of your top writes, i think cheers p

I wrote this one a while ago but then I been tweaking it and finally got it to here ... still needs one more edit but its close will think on the name this wasnt my only title but Jess chose this one and i will probably stick to it I am glad that you could see what i was doing ... I wrote a piece of literature its controversial but its still a poem ... it doesnt matter our faith though with some faiths I can imagine doing what I have done might earn a very harsh penalty .. I felt like I needed something to push my barriers ... what better thing to challenge myself than my own faith for I do have it I just dont let it rule my every breathing minute ... Stop Shouting, it is offensive.

This is a poetry workshop, not a god damned pulpit. If you don't like the subject matter, don't read the damned poem. No one forced you to, and no one wants to hear religious rantings from any source. No one is screaming their beliefs at YOU, so stop doing it to others. It is offensive in the extreme, completely inappropriate for a poetry workshop like this. What you are attempting to do is to marginalize and silence people who's beliefs differ from yours, and don't even try denying it; I live in America, and I know this kind of pernicious, disgusting, intolerant, denigrating nastiness first-hand. SHOCKING TITLE JAYNE!!!!!

Ann of Norway If any poem is awesome this is one of them. Wow what a poem, you take our breath away! You challenge society as it sees itself, and commands itself to behave; we have become puppets of man's ideas and so far from natural that this life, once so natural and free, if free in thought, is tainted by strange acting out of false life, a theatre of absurd extremes with such notions that the urges of desires, and the very epitome of our existence is ridiculed and made secret instead of celebrated and enjoyed. So how does one expect people to react to this poem? It says all, of them, how they respond or comment and nothing about you. You who are freed from tackles, except perhaps the greatest tackle of them all, that, created in the mind, that personage(?) called God, He/she is the most dramatic controversy awakening ...........that ever came into our consciousness and one which has warped our nature to fit its creeds so much that we are but puppets of its laws and fancies so long as we believe that he/she exists at all. Nature, the nature of this world, is spinning free and all that takes place on it is here by the mere chance of the mutations of living cells, we as humans having been around for such a tiny part of its history are the least important of the existing matter. Only because we have developed brains to be able to see ourselves, and create gods and fantasies, have we a knowledge that other living matter doesn't have, the privilege of understanding; but we should not rate ourselves any more worth than the one tiny part of the sum of life on earth, in the universe, we are lucky to have become able to be, and see, and understand so much and this deserves celebration, because when we change to become part of all that is once again, we, as individuals, are no more. Finito, kaput. Amen. Ann a speck in the universe.

By awesome I also mean....

Ann of Norway I hasten to add another comment as my better half has thought the whole thing out and finds that the word awesome describes the provocation in the poems nature,(the title especially) and is one which is not totally to my taste in this place, however one might look at the freedom of speech, of nature and one's own attitude to her. We do after all live in a society where there are, quite rightly, norms of behaviour and if these are violated they can harm others, no one wishes to stop people having their beliefs they are the, albeit strange, backbone of our communities, and we do not enjoy offending others. I do not like to offend them anyway. Sorry for not adding this earlier Jayne. Love from Ann.

I could never be offended at your views or you sharing your views huni no two people think the same so dont ever think I would be offended by anything you say ... this poem is in your face and I wrote it in that vein ... I wanted to shock but I also wanted to ask questions ... I worked on this one really hard with a little help from Jess and thats who suggested the title and to be honest i couldnt have another title now the title fits the format .... its not something I actually agree with a hundred percent but a wise man told me that to be a better writer I have to learn to write about the uncomfortable ones and there if i work hard enough I might get there one day ... and from time to time i am going to write stuff thats controversial but its never intended to hurt its intended to spark conversation and I think I did that with this piece ... posting it alone has taught me I can handle the tough poems ...thanks for your so insightful comment ... and I am glad you think it awesome ... in my mind its one of the best pieces ive written ... thanks my friend love you JayCee x x x ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it.
