The Table in the Rear

There is a table
in the rear of the lobby
by the window of the courtyard
some eat their meals by her
others meditate
some wrote their thoughts upon her
even sat there to visit their families.

The table welcomes all to sit at her
inviting never inciting
but then there are those
that take their anger out on her
the beast within the troubled soul
flipped her over to the floor
in a fit of rage a few times a day.

The table never complained
she is still there welcoming all.

thanks Annie

Thanks for reading and commenting. Glad u like the title and feels it a good write. It is not a table to avoid, maybe avoid the place where she resides. its rather a kind table it won't complain its just there. ~~~~~~~~~ If you don't like it, can't talk about it, then write about it. Hi B.W. I found this so

Hi B.W. I found this so very sad, but, more in a lonely sort of way, even though you imply violence. One typo.. Last line, "their" should be there... One other thing, the last line, "she is still their welcoming all who wish too." I think you could completely drop the "who wish too." Just a suggestion, only you know what you're trying to convey. Lonely sort of way

the theme is a lonely one of sorts just as u suggest. the table is there accepting whatever come her way whether for peace or to take out their anger on. thanks for the suggestions I totally agree with all u said and have made the changes. I have about thirteen more of this type poem that I have written in the last two weeks. been in the hospital getting much needed medical and mental help. ~~~~~~~~~ If you don't like it, can't talk about it, then write about it.
