Metamorphosis

Cool wind greets the hot wide air.

Blackened sky

hovers heavy,

then floods from on high.

Winter mutates the summer scene.

Sun-baked land thirsting for relief

suddenly soaked with tadpole-filled lakes.

Steam rises from the hot sod.

An aroma of earthy moisture seeks nostrils,

cleanses  the soul.

Wet, wet, wet

transforms dust to green.

Multicolour as far as can be seen

appears like magic,

covers the realm.

Wildflowers of every variety

reaching upwards

welcome the burgeoning clouds,

reflect multihued prisms

through drizzling droplets of diamond.

New life, new promise,

new beginnings.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

I really love this stanza... Sun-baked land thirsting for relief suddenly soaked with tadpole-filled lakes. Steam rises from the hot sod. An aroma of earthy moisture seeks nostrils, cleanses the soul. Rosina xena465

Wonderful wonderful judyanne,

Ann of Norway Is metamorphosis the theme of a competition everyone seems to be doing it and what pray shall we change into? That's exciting I had better have a go too then, but I must see this one of your judyanne. This phenomenon takes place even in so far away Australia doesn't it? Wonderful wonderful judyanne, I am called away from here but will be back never fear. love annanya

lovely annanya

thank you so much for the lovely comment i don't think there is, at least i'm not aware of, a competition involving metamorphosis if others are also writing on this theme it must be just that as poets we are all connected. love and hugs to you from judyanne xxx http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html

It was Dale's poem I was thinking of.

Ann of Norway "Metamorphic Myth" It wasn't the same in any way, just the theme. Yes as you say we are inspired by each other and that is such a lovely interplay isn't it? We all address it in our own individual ways and that is wonderful too. Vive la diffèrence! Love to you judyanne, annanya.

I’m sitting in the middle

I'm sitting in the middle of an Australian monsoon and I am loving it. Such wealth! Hugs, Anna "Just as what you dream is your own and no one else can observe it, so the world you see is your own." ~ Nisargadatta

thank you so much anna

that coming from you is very confidence-building it's just semantics but we in the antipodes call them cyclones they turn in the opposite direction to monsoons but apart from that they're no different. love you hugs back judd xxxx http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html

perceptions differ...

Hi Judy...while reading the same script perceptions can at times differ from reader to reader... My take on this... while reading through your write and the sequel of events unfold..it felt like heightening of passion between lovers...beginning with tell-tale signs of sighting a Lover after a long spell of absence(stanza 1)...the craving and heightened desire as they seek each other passionately (stanza 2) followed by the climax ..ecstacy..elation..jubilation...(stanza 3).... that may or may not be right..but that was my perception.. warmly..raj (sublime_ocean)...

what a wonderful reading raj

and if my words attempting to describe the passion of the dry outback for the rains metamorphed in your mind to physical union, that is a great compliment to me. i love it when the reader gets a different aspect to the poem more than the author intended. thank you judy xxxx http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html
