To Her

as peaches in the sun
we turn our faces to joy
all shadows leave

a gentle breeze flows across us
I offer my hands, open
our friendship, as a dream
flies across a space that evaporates
with the heat of hearts
sharing, understanding

why wake from a dream
that is not shuttered by sleep?
Is there illusion
in souls shared?
So waking or sleeping
untethered
something new and precious is born

Dear Jess

Your peaches took me back to another time ... Jess I am literally gobsmacked in the beauty of your write ... I never expect a love poem for myself(from anyone i mean) ... but I can live voraciously off others poetry and pretend that they are for me I just sat here and reread it three times trying to find fault or offer some suggestion ... sorry hun perfection shouldnt be fucked with imho love ya Jayne-Chloe x x x ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.-Ivan Panin")

my pleasure in your voracious

[did you mean vicarious? 8) either is fine] pleasure is only exceeded by my pleasure in ours. And somewhat exceeds my pleasure in messing with people's preconceptions of me. "why wake from a dream that is not shuttered by sleep?" I have serious line envy now. I hope you're happy. LOL Excellent poem, no fault to find, no measure of enjoyment too small; this after my fifth read, soaking it in. thank you indeed, jim

I am honoured by your appreciation, especially since this is a content I have tended to avoid, and often urge others to! Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]

Better Late than Never!

I just now discovered this gem! Now I truly know why you are what you are and do what you do so very well! You may be well on your way to becoming Australia's version of Shakespeare! Great poem, my friend!

goodness gracious me!

that's the second time I've been compared to the Bard. v1.0 always has glitches, v2.0 due for release soon, thanks mate, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]

why wake from a dreamthat

why wake from a dream that is not shuttered by sleep? those lines had me turning all shades of green... a gentle, feeling write. i don't want to go all mushy here (bah! humbug!) but i see a rather pure beauty in this write. i think it's in the open-ness; in the willingness to be vulnerable. i so like this... cheers p

thankyou, I'm not such a jaded old bastard as many think, that vulnerability, the frisson of the unexpected and uncertain still delights me in a new friendship, Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." I, for one, know Jess well

I, for one, know Jess well enough to know he is in no way, shape or form, in any such manner *a jaded old bastard*. A shaman lives the truth of his/her life as it appears, it may appear to be in the fashion to some. However, he's like I am, or I'm like he is... we need a lover to round off our hard edge. Well, ok, at least I speak for me, if not for Jess. ;-) ~A "Just as what you dream is your own and no one else can observe it, so the world you see is your own." ~ Nisargadatta

What has got into me?

I think I've got a pretty good answer for that. I've met a person who has become a dear friend quite quickly on Neopoet, mona from Libya, and the frisson of vulnerability and excitement of makeing a new friend has caused me to shed some of the defensive shells I have built up while battling the god-bothering "nice crowd" and their vicious attacks. Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]

lovely poem

Now I know It will take centuries, If not many a millennium, To reach the barbed wired Surroundings of the periphery, Where you stand commemorating To time Your indelible poetry... But do let me read, If not directly, But at least your poetic thoughts, As a reflection In the oasis of time, As I thirst for words, As come So naturally to thee

sweet verse indeed...

Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood... T.S Eliot Hi Jess, Mona recommended this poem for me and I must be thankful, enjoyable read and indeed penned so well... A close friend once wrote me acrostic using my screen name, it was a very nice gift, I'm pretty sure such gentle thing would treasure any true friendship. Regards
