Beneath the leaves

The tragedy ends
With familiar sorrow
Friends break the link
Down to bones marrow

Acquaintances fold
Their tenuious grasp
Beneath dark forests
The glare of the asp

I ask to speak~ from ruinness lungs
The verity drips~ from serpents tongue

My claws envelope
The stir of the asp
Who laughs at time
His coils tangled rasp

fine work, i especially like

fine work, i especially like the snake references. the lines: I ask to speak - from ruinness lungs The verity drips - from serpents tongue perhaps you meant ruinous. and i might also change tongue to tongues as it follows better the line lungs. unless you meant the serpent's tongue, in which case you need to put in the comma. i especially liked the line: the verity drips, as it also echoes the image of the serpent's lips dripping with poison. very well done. you have a fine poem here. john
