Failing

What grand disappointment, our acts in vein
Like injured dogs refusing to lie down
Unwilling to accept that Enough has left the room
Disheartened grasps of what is, for what could have been
What should have been...........
Whittling away at our place of importance
Residing in the house of peril, as its guarded guests
Defeat extends the neverending hand of ego
Dusting ourselves off, reluctantly we accept
For that which no longer serves us, entombs us
