Stay the Course

Stay the Course
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Years of ignoring and
Pushing back the urges
Have taken its toll.
Once, a long time ago, in my prime
The passion was uncontrollable,
Juices flowed freely;
Never ending.
Years of neglect
Make disipline hard,
Creavitity stiffled.
Frustration always looms.
Desire burns deep
But the short circuit
Goes unfixed,
Still broken
With few jump starts
Available.
My advice to the young one,
Never ever stop dreaming.
Remain vigilant.
Don't turn your cheek.
Forever write
There is no wrong;
Only fine tuning
And growth.
It's harder to come back
To life
Once you've been dormat.
Follow your dream!
Stay the course!
Mona!
Thank you! I missed being here. Been busy trying to finish the novel. Have an agent in New York and trying to wrap things up. Had a bit of writer's block and needed to get back to the place that helped me grow and work thru things the most. Here with you all. It feels good to be missed. Can't wait to chat again soon! Hey Tink
You've been working you tail off on that novel girl, that's poetry in paragraph form, I swear! You put that final tweak on that novel and take a little break from 'writing because you HAVE to'. Use any open time to go outside, go for a walk, go for a swim, find new music or a new artist, or anything like that. Have Tink-Time! Use that nurture your muse. You'll both feel so much better that she thanks you with poetry. That's what I do. I take a notebook or a thing of sticky notes or anything I can get my hands on and while I'm out having Ewok-time I don't worry about looking for stuff to write about, but it if comes to me, I'll write it down. I don't worry about making a poem right there, I just write down what it was that I saw/heard/felt. I go home when I'm done and I don't mess with the things I wrote for a little while. I let them simmer, I guess. Then I come back the next day or later that week or whenever and the memory of that image comes rushing back to me as I see the little scribble that and get to writing! Hope this helps! Also, 6.3: "dormat" --> 'dormant'. BIG HUG! Kelsey PS: I was working on your painting, but I have to go get more paint before I can keep going!!
