Treasures of nature

Light drips a prism forest
Stolen from the spectrum maze
Flecked with hematite and opal
Flashing gems that amaze.

Scattering silver droplets
Winking on dangling vines
Reflecting in the bromeliads
Where the tree frog dines.

Deftly painting butterflies
Displaying dots and dashes
Flickering in the sunlit streams
Iridescent splashes.

Shafting through the canopy
Piercing into hidden glooms
Catching green armoured beetles
Amongst the orchid blooms.

Bathing clear winged dragonflies
Dusted with indicolite
Skimming amid the leafy pools
Flirting in the limelight.

Treasures of natural wonder
Delighting the human race
The greatest wonder of them all?
This jewel in outer space.

How wonderful this jewel,

How wonderful this jewel, how wonderful your poem! ~A "The plain man is familiar with blindness and deafness, and knows from his everyday experience that the look of things is influenced by his senses, but it never occurs to him to regard the whole world as a creation of his senses." ~ Ernst Mach

Thanks Mona your words are very encouraging, I have problems with one of my eyes - ( the coldsore virus has somehow managed to settle in my eye - that's why I were sunglasses ) I wont go into details but it can cause a great deal of problems, fortunatley it's not active all the time, anyway enough about me my problems are minuscule in comparison to other peoples. WoW Mand

Superb. It's so good to see you on Neo again. Sorry about your eye and it's very noble of you to say that others are worse off than you. You say you find it hard to put into words how you love nature? I can't see that in your writing...Brilliant. Rosina xena465

you have magnified natures treasure here for us to see

Ann of Norway And if one looks very closely, or with a magnifying glass at the butterfly's wings, they are "pointilliste" they are dots the most beautiful tiny dots, just like almost all pigmented nature is and you have magnified natures treasure here for us to see and feel and experience, even if we were indoors a long way from the wilds, you did it so well that we hear and sense their presence in your words, well done mand, so beautiful you are. Love Ann. Indicolite ... and ...Electrum I didn't completely understand but that's probably just my ignorance!

Hi AnnThank you for your

Hi Ann Thank you for your lovely comments. It seems that there are gems all around us both human and in nature, the earth is an amazing place. Dusted with Indicolite - I was trying to convey the idea that a dragonsflies wings are clear but has a dusting of glittery blue - probably didn't have quite the effect I wanted. Electrum rays, referring to shafts of light. Originally this stanza was placed after the first stanza but my husband said it didn't work because there was to many ays. Any suggestions would be useful, would it make any difference if I took it out? Thanks again Ann I appreciate you coming by. Love Mand
