TWO POEMS ON THE 1ST MAY

1)  "Gift of flowers"

When flowers are sent from you my love

their colours scents and shapes,

send out their messages,

relate their poetry, their art, no artifice,

no doubt, no fears of counterfeit,

no hidden qualms,

their trumpeting stamens dancing round

their pistil king;

I wilt in ecstasy and sigh and groan

in joy, a boy's in love with me,

he sends his heart in nature's harmony,

of soft smooth petals, leaf,

and even if their life be brief,

a moment spent from heaven sent,

to savour in the hour,

a glimpse of paradise in hues so beautiful,

that even standing in their vase,

among the rubble of each day,

they glow, they sway, they dance

my spirits inner thoughts,

where I perceive their deepest wells,

of nectar tempting me,

to open up my heart and let their

essences flow freely down to every part;

oh such glimpses of the greatest gifts

of life's highest sentiment,

love's empathy expressed.

2)  "May Rain"

The choirs of spring with angels pouring from the sky

disguised as raindrops falling, reflecting all the world

its beauty, ugliness, its all,

and landing splash on tree and car and house,

on mouse, on moose, on elephant,

there to wake the buds

of this, the season of the year,

when all in rebirth flourishes anew,

on rivers lakes and waterfalls,

to swell their coffers, dew,

the stars of flowers closed now asleep, oh no,

they do not weep, their roots enjoy the downpour,

while the flowers hide their seed and wait,

for sun to join the rain, and then,

proceed to fertilise the world,

with busy help from bees and butterfly's,

and breeze among the trees,

and spread the word, yes,

spread the word that spring has sprung,

and we've begun the pleasured feast of May,

when all the lovers sway in time to melodies and tunes,

round and round the universe,

the maypole centred here,

as do the planets sun and moon

to give us a new year of fertile birth,

to celebrate, as did the ancients in the past,

all dressed in costumes just for this,

created to express the essence of our lives

if we take time to realise this,

no wars, no harm could come,

to anyone who's born to live

in harmony with nature's bliss,

so send your sorrows flying

on this the special day, the first of May.

A delightful treat!

Both of these are bold and beautiful, Ann! Rich use of language, and starkly vibrant imagery to boot! Bravo!

You are kind all of you and welcome

Ann of Norway Thank you for your lovely comments but I am beginning to feel that you all make me toooooo good and toooo kind etc. and this is not human. I am just another human being and do not deserve this exaggeration of sentiment, although I may also be guilty of the same in the poems!!! None of us are perfect and it takes a lifetime, or several lifetimes!! To learn how to act and react to other human beings, and find the harmony that SHOULD dominate in this world. No one person has all that it requires, and certainly not myself, we have our light and dark sides, like the proverbial two sides of the coin, and maybe that its good, because without the experience of the bad, the hard, the difficult, we wouldn't be what one could call whole people anyway, or what? Just to redress the balance a little with love to all you lovely people from Ann. P.S.No one has come up with an ending for the first one? Ann.
