to Theo
there is not
that wept openly
and hear,
there can exist nothing in silence
perfectly well
you pulled the heavy rope
that gave music to the silver bell
that clanged in the deaf world
but you fell into the gap of your heart
and silence rose in your own singing
and you became too proud to rend forgiveness
from the abandoned ruins of such gods
as us
that wept openly
and hear,
there can exist nothing in silence
perfectly well
you pulled the heavy rope
that gave music to the silver bell
that clanged in the deaf world
but you fell into the gap of your heart
and silence rose in your own singing
and you became too proud to rend forgiveness
from the abandoned ruins of such gods
as us
