to Theo

there is not
that wept openly
and hear,
there can exist nothing in silence
perfectly well
you pulled the heavy rope
that gave music to the silver bell
that clanged in the deaf world
but you fell into the gap of your heart
and silence rose in your own singing
and you became too proud to rend forgiveness
from the abandoned ruins of such gods
as us

..where the rope hangs and swings this way and that

Ann of Norway Barry this is as complex as a Zen koan of the most complicated type, simple on the face of things but with an underlying philosophical thought that tugs at our perceptions and creates more puzzles as one reads, and yet it is simple and plain in language. I found it rather fascinating, and profound; and was transported to the east to the temples in the wild places, where the rope hangs and swings this way and that like the plumb line that divines the yin and the yang of existence, in that silent vacuum, that is full, yet not. Barry with the metaphysical mind. Love to you my dear brother, Ann.

Actually its rather

Actually its rather simple. Theo's poetry was often a cry to our moral principals. He is gone. So that void of silence where once his voice was exists at Neo. "Perfectly well" implies that we are not bothered by the absence of his unique poetry. The rest expresses the idea that he became a victim of his pride and fell. And we as The powers banished him in our imperfection as judges. Theo dispised the intolerance of religion and became intolerant himself in his zeal. We have all lost an ear to a fine poet caught in his own het. He is my friend, and I miss his work. Thanks for commenting sister. B
