My Field Of Dreams

I remember the woods
Being right outside our back door
Smokey and I
Would head out for an adventure
He always ran way ahead
Chasing everything
It was warm
That wonderful kind of warm
Where you know
Everything is alright
Love birds chasing each other in the trees
Both knowing there is going to be a happy ending

And me
I am dreaming of my new girlfriend
That would be any girl who smiled at me
In my field of dreams
I am the king
And everyone loves me
But ole Smokey is gone now
And the woods are rows and rows of houses
But when the mood is just right
And I am all alone
I can close my eyes
Pat ole Smokey on the head
And hear my mother off in the distance
Randy it’s time to eat

Attractive theme

that leaves me with some warm memories and reminds me of Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors. I thought the end could be stronger; it didn't really go anywhere or leave me with anything.

This is the best!

I love this one Hobo. The memory, I'm guessing your dog, and the wander though your wonderful past...beautiful images for me to imagine while reading your poem. Rosina xena465

Hobo...

I have to go along with Arrow here, but it is a warming memory that is quite universal, or most have good memories that will relate anyway. I felt the title could be stronger and perhaps some punctuation may help the read, right now you have every new line in caps, and it detracts from the flow I felt you had meant to be there. I would also suggest a space between the line "that would be any girl that smiled at me" and let the "In my field of dreams" start a new stanza... just a suggestion. Richard

Great!!

Hobo I went for this memory lane visit with you this morning as I can also recount those days Mom calling come to eat as we played outside in the vast yard. We also had a dog named Archie that when he passed the silence in the house and the many tears shed was an unforgettable time. I do not think none of us did eat for a week as Daddy buried him and we had a service for him. That doggie is still buried in our old backyard from youthful years and I drive by there once in a while to capture all those memories of that house as we were growing up. Today you can not bury a pet on your property but if you did it must be disclosed to the buyer. I can still see him tail a wagging and how joyful he was. We also had many dogs but he seemed to be the favorite of them all. I just love this poem new friend of mine I shall call, your poetry strikes me heart a bit this morning Glad to have you here Hobo man Love, Magics Mona xxoxox TIME well spent is TIME well lived
