Night & Day

Look to the sky at the pulsing star

a shining dot vibrant and far

See it glimmer, mysterious and bright

twinkling in the dead of night.

I shade my eyes from light of the sun

a brand new day has just begun

See the bird, a breathtaking white

flying high as it takes to flight.

Grass so green with flowers awake

Elegant swans swim on the lake

The cat in the bush hiding from dangers

living in the wild, frightened of strangers.

Botanical Gardens filled with splendour

so beautiful, a sight to remember

See the castle, standing tall

with climbing ivy growing on the wall.

The child with the dog, calling his name

running, laughing; playing a game

I search the horizon and breathe in deep

hearing in the distance the bleating sheep.

The moon now shines in the azure sky

asleep on a leaf is the butterfly

Ripples of waves stretch across the bay

The wonders of the world, is Night & Day.

Oh Rosina you transport me!

Ann of Norway Wow I never saw such beautiful poetry so unaffected and direct, so seen, so felt, so perceived as it is, yes nature is there and you have taken the atmosphere and transformed it into a most lovely picture, one we can see again and again as the day becomes night and the night becomes day. I loved the beginning with you being dazzled by the light of a star and then suddenly the sun burst out and dazzled you in turn; the imagery, the immediacy of it, in the now so that we feel we could reach out and grab the branch even the star. The lovely touch with the sound of a child calling her dogs name; the near the far, with the sheep on the hills, all through you give it such depth, I am stunned and made by this to feel so happy that it is you who wrote this dear sweet Rosina, you can, you have, and we wish to see more of this you made it work so beautifully, wonderful poem.  I love it and love you too Ann

Awe thank you Ann

I was going to write a poem based on a lot of the nice images you send me, but then I found this one that I wrote, and edited it a little, before all my doom and gloom ones. I just have to re-connect with the beauty of life once again. Rosina xena465

hi blondie

you've reminded us all of the simple beauties of the world. It touched me deeply. The metre still falters a little here and there but its got a lovely directness. 'asleep on a leaf is the butterfly' my favourite line, love it. best wishes ross

Hi!

If I may: I think the two lines below will gain by the deletion of (my bracketed) the. I shade my eyes from light of [the] sun a brand new day has just begun I love the rhyme of splendour with remember. And very nice mix, this following stanza: Botanical Gardens filled with splendour so beautiful, a sight to remember See the castle, standing tall with climbing ivy growing on the wall. As per usual, I'm appreciating you, Chuck

That line does sound a bit awkward, but without (the) it still sound a bit off. I'll have another look at it later...cheers Chuck. Rosina xena465
