Lest We Forget ~ The Spirit of the Anzac

They shall not grow cold
for the eternal light of
remembrance
keeps them alive

the spirit of the Anzac
didn't die,
it lives on in the blood
pumping the hearts,
of twenty one
million souls

and today,

we mourn
we wail and weep
for their sacrifice
was monument,
and in one breath of grief,
our thanksgiving
is never-ending remembrance

JC remembers all!

Ahhh Jayne-Chloe, The grand Aussie poets lays down her pen, flowered wreath at the feet of all those who bow their heads in rememberence today! You keep not only the memory alive here JC but the spirit of your people... the legacy and strength of those who went before you, holds steadfast in your veins as you cast their souls free in this write! You've done them proud Seren, they are giving you a 21 Cannon salute... but that is as you bow before all those who fell in the world wars... and they grip your shoulders and let you look them in the eyes... and they will smile back for the honour of what you have done for them. Bravo I love this write, as it is very striking and powerful... which it needs to be for such events, but it never takes away the focus on the scarifice they made... rather than the glory that some often go for. Mavellous stuff! Dale :)

.."our thanksgiving is never-ending remembrance"

Ann of Norway I'll never forget when the poppies fell from the roof of the room (forgotten where) commemorating the fallen in WW2 there were even members who had fought beside them, standing there; the solemn music and this grand symbol of falling blood, the poppies of Normandy's peaceful fields, their brilliant scarlet flecks among the swaying corn, pricks of painful memorial just that moment expressed with such feeling, yes there are things that move us in life and none so intimate and personal as the loss of our brothers and sisters in the futile waging of WAR. I salute their memory all who fall for the cause of their country, I would never fight for a country or an idea, to kill another would be an impossibility for me, however much I disliked their dictates. How stupid is war at all when we are blessed with life, that should be enough to prevent there ever being any thought of destroying a life. But then we destroy literally thousands of animals even raising them as food for our human satisfaction, so we cannot sit and complain, things are that way and we have to survive its just so horrifying to think that we have to take life for its continuance isn't it? Oh this got out of hand dear Jayne, excuse my wandering mind, I liked your poem of remembrance as you see. Love to you from Ann.

Lest we forget...

Prayer-like Anzac Day...Rememberance Sunday...it's all the same. It's respectful thanks from one generation to another...and to remember all the conflicts still continuing...and all the suffering and sacrifice on distant shores. Lovely, Luv Ells xxx

To eternal remembrance

Such a lovely tribute you give here, Jayne. I could feel a spiritual flow to it. If people like you keep writing such beautiful things about them, it will prove to be quite the challenge to forget. Enjoying many of your other writes as well. Carch

Dear Hippie

After Martin Bryant went nuts in Tasmania and caused the worst mass slaughter in our history, they did take our guns away but farmers hunters sports shooters etc are still able to hold a licence and gun lol ...thanks for the beautiful comment we love our american brothers my grandfather always spoke fondly of the americans he fought with in WW2 ,.. we have a long alliance love and big hugs Jayne-Chloe x x x ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. Absolutely - a moving poem.

Absolutely - a moving poem. My grandfather fought for the British Empire - which denied his fellow Irish men and women their rightful independence. In the end you fight for the man on your right or left and not the official puffery but the bravery and courage is magnified by this not reduced.

I take your love and hugs

I take your love and hugs with joy. This is one version with chords ! C]He's twenty-five,[G] he's sick and tired It's[C] time to try[G] the other side [C]The B &[G] I to paradise To[C] sergeants and[G] their men. He's never been to Dun Na Ri Nor combed the beaches after three Chips and beer and greenery Sergeants and their men. He signed and took the soldiers crest A decent man in battle dress When bugles blow you do your best for Sergeants and their men. It's[C] all for the roses, it's[G] over the[C] sea It's[F] all for the[C] roses,[G] Finglas[C] boys to be. He's way ahead, he's second to none With his fabrique nationali gun Marching bands with Saxon blood Sergeants and their men. They landed with the sinking sun An invasion by the media run They covered up and kissed with tongues Sergeants and their men. But the phantom gunner danced the end Battered human bodies bled They butchered us, we butchered them Sergeants and their men. It's all for the roses, it's over the sea It's all for the roses, Finglas boys to be. But a flower of sleep grows on his grave Forgotten soon, the cowards and the brave But the coldest hate still lives today for Sergeants and their men. It's all for the roses, it's over the sea It's all for the roses, Finglas boys to be.
