funny you should write on

funny you should write on this DD was asking that question of myself recently perhaps we/I have tendencies and natures that tend toward the lighter side or is this avoidance Im not sure I do recall a few years ago being part of an amateur theatrical production where I had to play a very dark evil nasty character. Who totally repulsed everyone in the audience. It was a wonderful experience liberating, to be nasty and evil on stage. so much fun... indeed where have all the dark poets gone? Cheers M

Thanks Manawa,

Well when I showed up I didn't have a clue what it took to write dark poetry and learned a big appreaciation for the skill it takes for a generaly level headed person to create a truely horrifying write. Gee is a great example. Kelsey too. Thanks for taking the time to read, and braving to be the first post on what some would consider a.... a well I don't know what they would consider it. But I was prepared for discontent. Hoping for the best of coarse, and a few more dark writes! But as I already knew, the dark poets have not gone anywhere. And there will be plenty of dark posts to read!! Julie D.D.

Indeed, DD, great question

Indeed, DD, great question and at first I was surprised and then I wasn't that only one person commented. I'm always reminded of the poem The Guest House by Rumi. We are all great actors on this stage of our lives. I impersonate myself quite well most of the time... and then I get too serious in my role and well... that's when shit happens. Rumi - Guest House This being human is a guest house Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. Now about the poem itself, DD...a high five! Coincidentally I've been writing dark stuff lately too (at least for me) and this evening I'll post one of my *vampire* ones. I did quite a few of those. I like to think my poems embody all my passions, strengths and weaknesses. All my alter-egos. All my sins of omission and commission. Thank you for writing and sharing, Anna "The plain man is familiar with blindness and deafness, and knows from his everyday experience that the look of things is influenced by his senses, but it never occurs to him to regard the whole world as a creation of his senses." ~ Ernst Mach

That must be what...

bothering Killer! There is no one to rampage with! His girl-friend Demona, has been on vacation, and there is nobody to play with. His little jaunt last night was nice, but he was disappointed that it was over so soon. He is thinking of having a party. Maybe you would like to come? Let's work on it. Great write, DD. You have awakened his nasty side, with lines like: I could read a dark and daring poetic write Curling my toes, feeling it deep in my gut Invading a realm of such wicked sights Where all the demented thoughts are shut We think you have hit it on the head, Julie. ~ Love ya, Killer and Gee.

Sweet Killer...

Killer is so pleased at the response of his fans, especially you, his biggest fan. [I suppose I will get some flack from a few of the others], but I know that all of you who love Killer, know how much he appreciates you. He gets ideas and themes from you all. We will be exploring new jobs in the future,[kinda like Mike Rowe's "Dirty Jobs], and maybe will take suggestions, to see what kind of havoc we can wreak. Much love, Gee

Can’t wait Seren! So

Can't wait Seren! So glad you could stop bye and liked what you found. I appreaciate the assesment of my writes, I put the work in and try to do alot of differant things to keep me interested, and my reader. I just love doing it is the truth. I think it goes up and down, and in and out of what people like and don't, but consistency in my writing is my ultimate goal. Just don't want to be definable, does that make sense? Thanks for your read and comment. Much love and hugs to you dear Jayne, Julie D.D.

How about this one Julie?

Suicide Bomber Ever since he could understand he witnessed terror and violence He saw people dying needlessly and always, he watched in silence. Broken dead bodies meant nothing as he saw these horrors each waking day Pictures of the dying lived in his head and still he had nothing to say. There's a picture of him on his mother's wall She cries for his soul every night When she saw the horror of his crime she shuddered at the horrific sight. He wrapped his body with explosives he drove without remorse to the mall Women, men, the children; he exploded and killed them all. The suicide bomber lay in pieces mingled with those he killed Some people could only stare in shock aghast at the blood he spilled. Rosina xena465
