Back There to Then

Vanished has your light from this field of play.

Although knowing our links will refasten

the heart of my world misses you each day

as the clock ticks toward our reunion.

If only I could manipulate time

and in the dreamtime go back there to then

to where, my son, your world merged with mine.

Your smile, voice, touch to enjoy once again.

Live over, anew those past days with you

to see one more time the growth into youth,

undertake all the things we did not do,

my greatest joy would be that, it is truth.

But to part again would still be our fate.

At the thought of that my hunger does sate.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Oh sweet longing it tows the senses,

Ann of Norway Dear dear judyanne, Oh sweet longing it tows the senses, feelings ride the sad soliloquies of fate, and then relate their tears, in after years like dreams, remembered moments, seemed right here and now, oh grab them once again, see, hear, listen to your name called out, shout NO it wasn't so, and yet it was, and now with simple bended knee I try to speak to you, I know how you would answer me, and fill my heart to feel again, happy. Ah the loss of a loved one weighs heavy on the mind, and yet life goes its way and we must sway with it en ow. I understand your feeling and salute your poetry, he would have loved to see. Love you annanya.

just general pondering on time annanya

and then realising that one wouldn't want to relive the past, for the pain of learning is there as well as the happiness of reward and i wouldn't want to (or even be able to i think) go through some of those pains of learning again. this resulting contradiction to the emotions involved in wishing to 'go back' seemed the perfect subject to use as a sonnet and thus allow me continue with my attempts to write one. glad you liked it. love to you from judyanne

Dear J., I wish I knew

Dear J., I wish I knew some words that would ease your hurt, but there aren't any. Except the ones that you write, and they are breathtaking. LOL P.

thank you for that lovely compliment

time pours balm over the grief P it surfaces rarely these days - and if it does it is more a regret for what was not i am now able to rationalise my life without him and i have had many wonderful experiences to know he is still around. i truly don’t need your sympathy – but thank you just the same. as i said to annanya this was the perfect contradiction to try a sonnet. love j

Dear Judd

I dont think you realise how much of yourself you put into these poems ... and this is not a bad thing but sometimes its hard for us to NOT feel sympathy especially for those of us with children the same age ... so its a gut reaction to your emotion, that you convey so well ... we cannot but feel for you and that just makes you a wonderful emotive poet love and hugs JayCee x x x Quote:- It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense.---Robert Green Ingersoll
