Impotence (Eddy Styx poem)

"Impotence"

She...

She wraps her words around me

like a warm tortilla.

I want to eat her eyes

so I can see

(me)

the way she does.

Her volcanic verbs shoot

P...U...L...S...I...N...G

hot liquid through my veins

and

SHE causes me to lose all

CoNtRoL

over my bladder

and

I turn my red(face) to the shadows.

and

quickly s~l~i~n~k away.

If (i) were woman

and

SHE were man

This would NOT be unacceptable

male (frailty) weakness

but

demure beguiling femininity

I want to lie cradled in her semi-precious metaphors!

I can only smile.~AOut

I can only smile. ~A Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase 'each other' doesn't make any sense. --Rumi

STYX

Cat, being most fortunate to already have a copy of your book, this one is a well known piece to me. My opinions of this one haven't changed, it is STYX through and through. I recall from the first time I read it that it was distracted, broken and distorted with truth and lies and split into fragments of a crazed mind. Capital letters smacked me, single words trapped in brackets of steel and volcanic verbs mixed in upper and lower cases. This is a highlight from your book. BUY THIS BOOK NOW! Dear Ziggy

Thanks so much for really reading the poem. That line is one of my favorites, too. If you have trouble getting the genre mall to send to your country, perhaps I could purchase a copy for you and send it to you myself. It is only $5.50 in the U.S. Always, Cat
