Painting you out of my life

At first pure and whiteShadows crisp on walls brightBut time dulled that lightKids came within sight. We refreshed our livesWith an overcoat of MagnoliaStifling us of our passionsWith time and strugglesOur coat tore at the seam of  our seperationI dreamt then of brothel bright shadesAzure for tropical seaLonging for distance placesWith bright and vibrant spacesI painted you out of my lifeThen stepped back to admire my workShock vibrated to my coreI had imprisoned myself inThe beige of my old age

Wow!

What an awesome poem, I love the idea of painting someone out of your life...and then ironically regretting the move, it sounds like? I love the last line, "I had imprisoned myself in the beige of my old age" it's somewhat of a surprise, I expected you to be victorious, like in the song "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair" Very wistful, lingering poem for me Friends in Pen, Jhena

Hello Mariposa

My friends got together to help me reclaim my space when my husband left a few years ago. I had a little notbook of all the colourful changes I would make in the year he took to finally move out and then we had a paint him out party but by that time I just wanted the peace of neutral colour...calming but oh so boring. Funnily enough red plays a large part in my work and I've even worked through my shocking pink stage...next stage? There are so many wonderful colours , I want to try them all. Thank you for the feedback. P.S. I am victorious I can choose the colour of my mood. Seabhac

Hi Indi

Actually this and the other one Magnolian man were written for a competition using the word Magnolia. It seemed a challenge at first but it has made me realise how important colour is in my life. What a house to buy when I die...layers and layers of colour, hmm that sets off a memory of visiting a wonderful old house near where I lived. it was a house for the mistress of a gentleman and the papers on the walls were layered in their aging process revealing a riot of texture and colour ...each a phase I suppose now of that mistress relationship with life and love...oh dear I feel a poem coming on, guess that wall will just have to stay grubby and off white... Thanks Indi

Hi Lyz

Lovely to have you visit as always... You asked ages ago about the paintings in the avitar...sorry just remembered when I saw your comment. These are by a Mongolian artist friend who explores and illustrates female shamen in Mongolia. I am a felt artist of textiles so colour is just my base it is the texture and tangable touch I love. Poetry I have found gives that texture to words... Best Wishes Seabhac

Thank you

I knew you were in textiles but I thought maybe your talents expanded. They, the paintings, for what I can see of them, are beautiful. Your friend is good. Thanks hun. Take care. Love Lyz. xx
