When I accept my grey

I have placed youIn a box marked broken
The shards cannot cut me nowSlivers beneath my skinCausing festering postulationAre avoided
I can shake itBut there is silence,
Still
Each piece cocooned in woolSafe in their distancingFrom one another
Maybe some dayWhen I accept my greyI will unwrap the me you brokeAnd piece it with the boxed you
The glued mendingResembling in silhouetteWhat our coupling could have been
 Only then
Can I mourn for you

Its great to bury the box

Or better yet to open it up and let it all out. I once wrote of the black box in me and this kind of reminded me of it. I can shake it but there is silence still I felt that one too, here is a good piece of work. I like it Love Mona xoxxo TIME well spent is TIME well lived

Great write Seab, I will

Great write Seab, I will never go quietly into the gray, JK. Seems like the formatt could use a little attention, but word is the culprit. It was an inpired write. Great read. Julie D.D.

Hi Julie

Thanks for that. I would be delighted if you could spare a little time to look at the format and come up with any ideas to improve or even it would be helpful to give a feel of what might not have worked for you, I am always keen to get feedback on construction. So much to learn! Thanks Seabhac

Dear Liz

I noticed in your comment to Julie you asked about format ... I did a small edit ...if you dont like it ignore it if you do well even better I placed you In a box marked broken, The shards cannot cut me now slivers beneath my skin causing festering postulation are avoided I can shake it But there is silence, still Each piece cocooned in wool safe in their distancing from one another Maybe some day when I accept my grey I will unwrap the me you broke and piece it with the boxed you The glued mending resembling in silhouette what our coupling could have been only then can I mourn for you love and big hugs JayCee uote:- It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense.---Robert Green Ingersoll

Thanks a lot Jayne

Sometimes a write is too emotive to distance ourselves objectly to it. I like the grouping of the words in the blocks of defination of thought. Love most of it but feel the last 2 lines need to stay together...a coupling one might say.. Thanks for taking the time to help with this Seabhac

OH SEABHAC!

You have outdone yourself this time! Have well,we who have "BEEN THERE" and are still unresolved with "THAT" can relate to this! These are my favourite lines: "I will unwrap the me you broke And piece it with the boxed you The glued mending Resembling in silhouette What our coupling could have been" Cheers Boni

Hi truthslayer

Your comments on this poem have meant a lot, to take the time to reread a poem 4 times is very encouraging but I know you seldom comment and that this piece has evoked a response in writing from you has made my day. Thanks Seabhac

Seabhac-

your poem stayed with me- and finally i figured out why! i went searching through some older stuff and found something i wrote when i was 19 (something with a similar title and and how i wasn't ready to accept my gray!) Shades of Gray When the shades of gray disappear, I’m the only one left here. To breath, to heal, to live When all those precious moments haunt me, Those tender emotions are all I see. To hold, to feel, to live When there is nothing left to say, my heart will confide The lies we tell ourselves to survive. To love, to hate, to live When my callousness finally shines through, My soul will betray what’s left, the everlasting tattoo. To feel To die To live -m
