Evolving

 Evolving
(for Uncle Duane who passed on 4-13-10)

he breathes

electric colors

spinning words

into enchantment

while he

travels a path

of  his own forging

listening

to the pipings

of a distant flute

he revels

in the dappled

sunlight

on his shoulders

and he knows

that he is

changing

from the person

he used to be

he is emerging...

Golden

This is a wonderful tribute poem for your Uncle. I also have Uncles still here amongst us and they are so inspirational and loving. I can only imagine your pain as you go through the days and nights ahead. Rejoice in his memory for that is what we take with us when we go also. I hope you are doing better with your knee and know that I feel you in your time of griefr as I know how much he meant to you and how much family really is a big part of our lives, with all the love and kindred spirits we share with those we love. Nice write Golden Get well soon Love, Mona and hugs from afar xooxoxoxoxox TIME well spent is TIME well lived

Beautiful

Cat, your Uncle certainly is someone who had a big impact in your life. You have captured a moment here that will last for ever. I can picture him forging his path from this world into the next. I really liked the summary final line: He is emerging...beautiful. I loved the structure and form and the emotion of this piece. One question, should the first line read: He breathes, rather than He breaths? Such a calm piece or writing. I didn't click the stars as this piece is not about stars or spotlight, it has one purpose and you have fulfilled that perfectly. regards, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Dear Dan

Thank you, especially for the typo catch. You are so right... this poem was not about stars or spotlights. He was a farmer and a cowboy who rode the rodeo circuit. Always, Cat
