Spirit Walk

Spirit Walk

on the quest of
the spirit walk
consciousness
lost to body
thoughts adrift
inner space surrounds
like an arid desert
encircling an oasis
only with driving effort
can the pathway be found
life force driven on
by need of self-understanding
the wherefor and why
of each past action
coming to know
the inner monster
of self-destruction
comes rearing up ugly
the warrior must awaken
entering skirmish
with scaly-faced
alter ego struggling
to triumph over the melee
opponent furiously
unfettered for battle
devoid of rules
when the smoke clears
the surviving soul
has his monster chained
broken to the leash
the spirit trial
momentarily over while
peace reigns ephemerally

word guide-
*ephemerally- a very short lived time.
*melee- a fight or round of a fight

Dear Mona

Thank you for reading and your delightful comment. I looked up therefore and therefor in my dictionary. Amazingly enough they were both there! I seemed to have chosen the right one for the circumstances. I got lucky, lol. Love, Cat

Dear Cat, to me this could be applied to lots of situations Ie. dealing with inner demons ... but for some reason I felt like it was a battle of depression ... if I am wrong I apologise but thats how it read to me but its a great write whatever its about love and big hugs JayCee (http://www.neopoet.com/forum/36627-meet-n-greet-live-chat-thurs-apr-15th-9-11-pm-ny-est-host-poewriter58-welcome-new-member#comment-175177) ... Dear Jayne

This piece is about self-improvement and self-discovery. It is the inner journey, but I can see how you could have mistaken it for depressing, as much of self-discovery can be depressing. Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated. Love, Cat

Dear Rosina

As I told Jayne, the poem is about Self-discovery and self-improvement. But I can certainly see how you got the idea it was about depression. Thank you for reading and commenting, dear gentle reader. Always, Cat

Hey, there

If I may volunteer a belief of mine that we all self-destruct; only the manner of it varies. Soul-searching, spirit-walking, run-ons with strength. Honesty your guide. Or perhaps I can rephrase: Honestly, you're a guide. And thank you for that ... and for your writing(s). I suspect that without entirely meaning to, you educate, model, play. Your words do you justice. I'm impressed (no surprise, that) by you. Thanx, Chuck

Dear Chuck

First of all, I am immensely glad to see you have come back to us! I was very angry about the source of your leaving and my temper still silently smolders. secondly, thank you for understanding the guts of this poem. It is something I do every six months. My husband calls it "evaluating my motives" but by now he is accustomed to my weird ways. thirdly: I am honored and humbledby your comment. Thank you! Always, Cat

love this cat

i read this as a, perhaps meditative, perhaps not, fight with yourself between the spiritual side and the carnal side of yourself (or the ego and id and other thing-i can't remember) - that the adepts say we will need to fight in our spirit quest. sorry if it not, but in that case depression must be somewhat the same thing. love judy

phew!

Cat, what a journey of words this one is. I believe it could have been written as one long line with no full stops, which works really well as it is a non-stop journey. The words flow down the road effortlessly and give a sense of calm and quiet. Stunning!
