Chance
When we first met on that dreary night,
My heart began to flutter,
Your beauty so great that at the sight,
I cold not even mutter,
You came to me and said hello,
And I stuttered hows it goin,
I could not believe that you'd choose this fellow,
And my ashtonishment was showin,
'Cause you grabbed my hand and said lets dance,
And I heard a clash of thunder,
With a simple touch you broke my trance,
And cast my world asunder,
We danced to the sounds of Garth and George,
And we spun around the floor,
The sparks a flyin as from a forge,
We headed toward the door,
The summer rain perfumed the night,
As I walked you to your car,
Oh god to me it felt so right,
Maybe thats why I bear this scar,
We kissed and said goodnight,
And I watched you drive away,
Thinking nothing of the sight,
That would greet me the next day,
For the next morning I awoke,
And as I read the obit. page,
A curse I did evoke,
A picture of my dancing lady her name I learned was Paige,
I wept like a child stung by a bee,
For this was a cruel twist of chance,
But as I cried a thought did comfort me,
At least we got to share a dance.
My heart began to flutter,
Your beauty so great that at the sight,
I cold not even mutter,
You came to me and said hello,
And I stuttered hows it goin,
I could not believe that you'd choose this fellow,
And my ashtonishment was showin,
'Cause you grabbed my hand and said lets dance,
And I heard a clash of thunder,
With a simple touch you broke my trance,
And cast my world asunder,
We danced to the sounds of Garth and George,
And we spun around the floor,
The sparks a flyin as from a forge,
We headed toward the door,
The summer rain perfumed the night,
As I walked you to your car,
Oh god to me it felt so right,
Maybe thats why I bear this scar,
