Suffication
To wake up
into an unknown place,
startled, I take a deep breath.
Submerged, around words
that float to the surface
of all consciousness,
I spread my arms
wanting to escape.
Yet, the tide rolls over
with a new number,
branding my vague flesh;
and again, I struggle
through the dissolving ink
staining the turning wave.
Resignful I wince away,
with all uncertainty,
bleaching my own name
from the cover of today.
into an unknown place,
startled, I take a deep breath.
Submerged, around words
that float to the surface
of all consciousness,
I spread my arms
wanting to escape.
Yet, the tide rolls over
with a new number,
branding my vague flesh;
and again, I struggle
through the dissolving ink
staining the turning wave.
Resignful I wince away,
with all uncertainty,
bleaching my own name
from the cover of today.
