Crucifix of Cancer (Acrostic)

Crucifix upon which I may die
Alienates me from those I don't yet know
Now I taste the despairing lonliness which
Creates the beginning and the
End of uncertainty as I
Reach out for a saviour.

I liked the acrostic format

The Big 'C'...always has the power to create powerful reactions...and a questioning of why me? I lost a close female friend to breast cancer last year...she was asking this question right up to the end. Interesting Ellie.

a lot of the big c around this site, guess it inspires poetry

but a saviour? oh a saviour, that is the word that made me truly worry how you are doing, know you have been dealing with this for a long time. Well if you can talk of saviour, I can talk of prayer. And mine are with you. Much love, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible

Lenny

I hear your cry out on the big word of cancer here as I know of people who have suffered and still suffer from this. My prayers go out to you and may you find comfort in those who care about you. Love, Mona Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

Thanks for

all your words of support. I have had an operation on my nose to remove a tumour, and can thankfully say I have now got the all clear! I have an intimate relationship with cancer due to a genetic disorder which has seen my large bowels removed in life saving surgery, then 2yrs later it was an abdominal tumour and now my nose! This last tumour did worry me due to the close proximity of my grey matter! Luckily it hadn't spread upstairs! I am blessed in having a very loving and caring wife - Nikki, my saviour - without whom I would be in a mess; and Becky our daughter who is my shining star! Plus I have excellent medical support who have also been very supportive, and if I need to see my nurse she is only a phone call away! I find writing about cancer to be therapeutic, almost cleansing, and maybe in some small way it may help others who encounter this disease. Love, Light and Laughter to All Beings Namaste, Lenny

Wow

Courageous man here and your comment was heartfelt. I see you have been a survivor and yes writing does have its therapeutic qualities for sure. I am happy for you that you got the clearance and also the loving support system you have in your life. To Nikki and Becky keep up the great work and loving care you give to our Poet Lenny. Love, Mona Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

Namaste, LennyThe moment one

Namaste, Lenny The moment one hears the C-word life is forever changed. I'll never forget how preciously innocent and how blissfully ignorant we all were until my mom developed stomach cancer. I don't spend much time "sweating the small stuff." Be well. ~A "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." ~ A Course In Miracles

Yes, all sounds awfully true

This line struck me in particular: Alienates me from those I don’t yet know When my partner was dying, it was more: Alienates me from those I knew and don't yet know. At least cancer can be contained, for a time, in a poem.
