Secrets

I don’t know how to speak from this opening
I don’t know what colours to wear in this daybreak song
how to filter the light through my heart’s restless longing,
how to make passion and love coalesce in this moment
when the sound of your voice breaks
into rain,
falling together
the wind blows through my fingers
as I reach for you and like all phantoms of the earth,
the hollow reed breaks inside the Queen’s chamber
sealed by antiquity
I suffer post-partum depression
lips bleeding saltwater memories
and daybreak aficionados
on a carved altarstone

In begging bowls my reflection
stumbles and the forest path to Arunachala ties jagged rocks to
untamed clouds,

Ties my heart to yours in ways unseen,
in ways that will keep the sun from rising
and the night to fall,
like indulgent lovers
we write poems in our sleep,
awaken with words seared into flesh.
