The Human Spirit

I can enlighten why I lost my way
with words that became invisible.
When my mind chooses to become void
because of insecurities within myself
it's only then that sense seems applicable.

There are times when we have to shut down
in order to resume our human emotions.
To recollect what was once of significance
sometimes we have to disconnect
to find again, life's valid importance.

I ran away out of human weakness.
When things got too tough, I ducked for cover.
Hid myself in a security blanket
one that I possess and embrace in duress
similar reactions of a jilted lover.

When you see a child in the arms of a mother
held, loved and kissed with tenderness.
We look upon that view with sheer euphoria.
But a child physically and mentally bruised
we're plagued with visions, so horrendous.

Poetry is a release of emotions
vehemence that helps us establish sanity.
I write about good things, the bad and the ugly
which, has beneficial wisdom for our existence
an understanding of truth -  humanity.

Thanks Annie. I was trying

Thanks Annie. I was trying to express how I was feeling prior to me leaving, when I left and how we have to search within ourselves to find the answers to what, we as humans are, and not what others think we should be. Not running away like I did for a start! Rosina xena465

Xena

So very honestly given here in your poem with no threatening words, curse words, and no disrepect to your fellow poets. That is a real woman one that can speak out without offending anyone and telling it like it is, without the animosity. I am proud of you for who you are and what you represent in here Neopoet, more people should be this way. Next time there is a vote for AEC you will have my vote that's for sure. Good people like you who care about all members in here and not just the few. Happy to see you back and writing. Do your stuff and always stay tough. Love, Mona Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

I am glad your back Rosina,

I am glad your back Rosina, Your poem was a good reflection of your heart, one of the reasons I love your poetry. And its admitting to writing about the bad and ugly of it bring the honesty around. One of my favorite quotes, "you can please some of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time" Because as we know imposing our own Ideaology's on people never works. Doesn't mean we can't have our own. Julie D.D.

A nice little meditational piece on your situation

Ann of Norway A nice little meditational piece on your situation and feelings at this moment in time. "which, has beneficial wisdom of our existence".....either THE wisdom, or the beneficial, or FOR our existence. Hope you see what's bothering me in the meaning here Rosina? "I ran away from human weakness." do you perhaps mean out of human weakness? Truth is an idea and it is not able to be defined, it is best we strive for the best definition for ourselves, for the moment, and always are ready to modulate it to sing in harmony with the world around us and with 'humanity' as you put it. Just me Ann with love to you Rosina.

Thanks very much Ann.

Thanks very much Ann. I've edited the poem. I hope it makes more sense now. If you can see anything else that will help the sense of the poem, I'd really appreciate it. It was quite a hard poem for me to write, because of my lack of the structure of the English language. Rosina xena465

It’s interesting that many

It's interesting that many of the poets here write poetry in the *confessional style*. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confessional_poetry Cathartic...at best. And we all have a bit of voyeuristic tendencies. How does our life compare? That's when it gets a bit sticky. Imo, our lives are our *truth*. How we live it is what makes us unique individuals and poets. Glad to see you posting again, Rosina. I too, leave for a few days on occasion, just to put myself in perspective again. The poetry of living can be quite overwhelming at times. Amen to that…I totally

Amen to that...I totally agree. We are individuals and write how we feel and disappear at times when our feelings get the better of us. I just took my break from Neo a little too far and did the wrong thing. And I'm glad that I've swallowed my pride and came back home to Neo and my friends. Rosina xena465

Hi Xena

I could empathise so much with the lines There are times when we have to shut down in order to resume our human emotions. I remember your first two poems and boy can you articulate what you feel now with pin point precision...don't ever doubt the good your poetry is doing for you. It is powerful to see. Seabhac

I know I'm not so good with fancy words, but I feel what I write and for me, that's good and feels good. Rosina xena465
